In addition it would be fun to see a "demographics of article authors", optionally filtered by section/language.
About 70% of the registered users are from US or have not changed their settings, but whenever I read an interesting article and view the author's profile, he is from china, france or whereever.
This might be because a majority of the registered users are not active at all, they just register in order to download zip files. Filtering the demographics for "silver status and above", "users with at least five messages posted" or "at least one article posted" would give as more realistic overview about the "real CPians"

This suggestion is a follow-up to this thread[^] in the Lounge.
While it is up to the individual whether they vote or not and whether they comment on an article or not, I would like to make a suggestion to encourage voters to comment.
Some people may not wish to make public comments on an article, but if the author hasn't posted a message on the forum belonging to the article there seems to be no way for the reader to email the author easily. I would like there to be a link at the bottom of the article to permit the reader to email the author (using the same posting mechanism that the email reply to a forum message has) rather than post a message in the forum.
Secondly, the voting buttons could have a little bit of text encouraging a comment to be left. Something like "Many authors appreciate feedback as to why you voted the way you did."
It will still be up to the voter whether they leave feedback or not, but a little encouragement might help improve the quality of the articles by those who genuinely want to write great articles and will appreciate and respond to the comments.

Some good ideas there Colin. Or, when you vote, it pops up a comment dialog. If no text is entered, then no comment is added to the article.
The only draw back of this is of course that people who are voting could be identified if they did not want to be.

When I typed wrong password, the CP asks me to enter the email address again. Why is that?
You know that I entered wrong password then why you force the user to enter the email address again, that too in the small area. 
If the email address is valid but password is wrong then make the user to re-enter the password only.
If both email address and password are wrong then it makes sense to force the user to enter both.
Promise only what you can do. And then deliver more than what you promised.

No i disagree with you, simple rule is that if you know the login/password enter it right the first time....
This is one way to discorage hackers... but ofcource good hackers will use other methods.

Man, you hit me at right spot. 
Actually at home I always login at CP with "Remember Me" option, but at work I login when I need to check something and log out. (don't ask why ) At work I have to remember atleast 10 different userid/passwords combinations for the application, so sometimes I enter wrong password for CP. So I posted my earlier message from work, after I tried all the passwords and nothing didn't work. Atlast I remembered the password and I immediately posted the earlier without giving a thought for a second. 
I apologize if my earier message reached you in different way.

yeah yeah, we have tried so many times but still we do get programming questions in the lounge...
Now lets consider an average surfer,who is new to codeproject and wants to post a question but dont know where. He clicks on one of the forum(lounge) -> post a new message -> and starts writing (without reading the bold red text "Please do not.....")
I suggest that this text should be in the edit box itself , and when the user clicks on the textbox , the message could be removed. This will i belive make sure that the newcommer reads the warning before he posts his programming question in the lounge.
This way , you can also give a longer warnings too if any.

Good idea. And if there was a check to see if the number of messages posted by the user was greater than 10, don't bother with the warning.

yeah this is a good idea too, coz by default the edit box gets the focus, so we dont what the "experienced" poster to click on the editbox everytime he posts a message.

That's not a problem, for new threads the Subject field has the focus first.

Alternatively we could include a post parser that can recognize keywords and tokens, then redirect inappropriate posts to the correct forum. I'm sure Chris has plenty of free time to implement this, so we might have it running by Monday.

I think we should leave it the way it is.
We rarely get programming questions in the lounge now, and the few that do give us some chance to shower them in acidic ridicule, which helps cheer up us grumpy coders a lot 
we are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is Vonnegut jr.

You can have an admin function that allows you to delete a user-id with all of their posts as well. (Perhaps you already have this, I don't know). Just don't delete mine
