Not as yet.
To add such an option will require some serious reworking. We have nearly 2 million accounts and over 9,000 articles which amounts to potentially a lot notifications to process and a lot of emails.

I suspected it to be not a simple task. I guess I was just hoping to be proven wrong. Thanks for such quick response!
Have a good one!

How about a new RSS feed for articles you have marked to update you if any changes occur?

That tag doesn't appear to work.
I just submitted an article that contained some sql code, I put <pre lang=sql> in front of the sql code and closed it properly, it shows preformatted ok, but the syntax highlighting appears to be c++.
The article is here:

|
|
|
|
You wrapped you PRE tags with CODE tags. PRE is for blocks, CODE is for inline text such as variable names. Also note that the SQL syntax colorizer doesn't include some keywords and is case sensitive. We've got a new one but we're still building infrastructure in order to move it into place.

Ahh! I understand now. I thought pre was just to preserve formatting and code was required to indicate it was code for the colorization process to take place.
The info in the section entitled "Syntax Colorisation" here:
http://www.codeproject.com/info/submit.asp#Update[^]
Doesn't actually explain that as well as you just did.
Cheers and thanks for updating that!

just a note, this may have been fixed in the more recent version that isn't in place yet, but I noticed the current sql colorizer doesn't seem to recognize multiline comment style like this:
/*
comment
more comments
*/

I think that You should open new section of Code Project.
.NET 2.0 section.

And that will be a beta section ? .

If it were at the bottom of the pages, it would be less annoying - i could still read the page while waiting for a response from the realmedia server.

We've forked out the money to get audited so we have accurate and unbiased figures on how many people are viewing the site per month. The include is meant to have almost zero impact on load time. Can you please do a tracert to the realmedia server and send it to me? I'll yell loudly for you if there's a problem.

The only times i see problems are when i'm connected through VPN... unfortunately, tracert doesn't do anything useful in that scenario, as i'm using a proxy. For the time being, i'm just grounding the server name in my hosts file on my work machine. It hasn't caused significant delays on my home machine, so i'll leave that be.

Hi,
I would like to suggest a few things in order to improve the article rating system:
1.)
Is it possible to add a download counter to codeproject? When writing articles this could give a better indication for the popularity than the popularity as it is at the moment or the number of hits.
As the author i would like to know how many people actually downloaded the archives in order to estimate if it is worth to put more work on it. Also if you include the number of downloads you will get a better estimate for the overall popularity of an article.
2.)
Why not include the number of forum entries into the popularity. After all if people ask about a project they are interested in it.
3.)
Members should be allowed to change their vote after an article has been updated. Sometimes I find articles which I rated badly but the article changed since and the original vote does no longer reflect my opinion.
Regards,
Ingo

1. That's something that I definitely want to do
2. I'm not sure this is a good reflection of popularity. Take a look at Bill Sergio's article boards
3. Yep - this will be done too

Hey Chris...
[^]...the original post was rather long, so I tried to modify it and put in a link to the article...but, even though the text box only showed down just the '***' line, the post still shows the addition text that was deleted

I originally just posted a link to a page that had the text of the article I was making reference to...but the page also had adult humor, so I modified the original message text replacing the link with just the text of the article...later, I found other links that only contained the article and tried to modify the post again trying to replace the (long) text with one of the newly discovered link (in consideration of those who still have to deal with dialup). That is when the "oops" showed up...

We need to have a few other discussion boards.
1. Assembly Discussion Board
2. Reverse Engineering Discussion Board
3. Debugging Discussion Board
4. C Programming Discussion Board
5. Driver Discussion Board
6. OpenGL/D3D/DDraw/Graphics Discussion Board
7. Mathematics/Algorithms Discussion Board
8. Security Discussion Board
9. AI/Nueral Nets Discussion Board
10. OS Development Dicussion Board
At a minimal we need #1.

Ok... first thing... the one-point vote is not mine.
Reverse Engineering is generally a bad idea. Did you ever read software licences (EULA)?
Most companies don't allow reverse engineering their software. This is an official site, and so I think that "illegal" discussions will just make trouble.
C Programming board doesn't many any sense either, because we have a VC++ forum for both c and c++.
A driver discussion board is a nice idea, but the problem will be that there are not many driver programmers, so the forum will be as recently visited as the managed c++ board .
OS development board? Why should we need such a thing? It's a microsoft site, so why supporting OS development?
Maths board is a good idea, I also proposed it some month ago. Chris read it, said that it's a nice idea, but nothing happend so far .
Debugging board is also a nice idea, but all your other boards won't have many visitors.
Regards,
Alex

So, I guess I shouldn't post articles on how to use PSP for free?
Don't compare driver developers to managed C++

Hehe, I'd never compare driver developers to managed C++ (I'm a driver developer myself).
