Chris,
Is there anyway to add the do not post programming questions to just above the Submit / Preview buttons?
i.e.
[] Notify Me by e-mail if someone answers this message<br />
<br />
"Please do NOT post programming questions or ads to this forum."<br />
"For programming help please try the Forums."<br />
<br />
[Submit] [Preview]
I don't know if it would help or not but worth a shot?

Hello!
One improvement to the site would be that if I login on a article page I will return on the same page after login! Now I wind up at the frontpage and have to find the article again.
|
|
|
|
|
meanwhile, press back key twice and press F5 or refresh.
now you are logged in and at the article that you were reading.

It would be great if CP start a exclusive article section which discuss upcomming computing technologies like AI and Neural Networks.

After changing the timestamp showing when the message was inserted by putting the ellapsed time since now, shouldn't be interesting to do the same with the message that appears at the top of every forum?
* Forums in bold have new messages since 6:04 Monday 26th September, 2005

I know there is already a size difference between <H2> and <H3> but I would suggest adding italic to the <H3> tag as well. This would help to further differentiate it from the <H2> tag.

Apologies in advance if this isn't the correct forum to post this.
I attempted to create an account yesterday (Sept 22nd) which appears to be in some state of limbo. I never recieved an confirmation e-mail saying the account was created, yet any attempts to create a newer account using the same username/e-mail generates the "...the name/e-mail is already being used by someone else" error. I'm unable to login using the password I provided, and I never recieve any e-mails from the "I forgot my password" page.
I created another account today so I could post this message. Initially I provided a name, But when I went back to edit my account, the "Name" field was blank. I didn't think anything of it until I tried to post. When I tried to submit a post, the site would come back with an error saying my login name (blank) and the name field on the "New Message" page ("mzuber") had to match. So, I removed the name I provided and resubmitted. The site then complains that blank values are not accepted!
Aaarrrrrggh!
So, in the end I resorted to using an account from www.bugmenot.com in order to post. Now that I have a "voice", is there an administrator I can e-mail to delete those two accounts?
Thanks in advance,
-Me

Hi,
During the period of registration, was your Inbox free to recieve messages? May be any spamfilter is blocking the messages.
While posting and recieving in this thread, are you getting replies from forums@codeproject.com. If not, I think you need to check out whether your mailserver is blocking mails from CP.

A "Looking for ..." forum. For those who are looking for a software component or the like. It kind of sits somewhere in between programming question and general information.

Yeah, I like that idea.
Don't try it, just do it!

Funny you should say this, I posted this before but to also include hardware etc. It's a really good thing to have in my completely un-humble opinion. I don't know why anyone would vote this suggestion down.

Well I voted the idea down because I think 'General Discussions' covers the topic quiet well. The more forums that are added, the more the valuable discussion is diluted.

If you had voted it down then you should have left a reason behind why you did that.

this bug happens my guess about 50% of the time
I like to use the view option = thread view to skip past threads I'm not interested in
and then if thread I'm following has new post I clik to see first post in thread, then shift-clik to get new window with all messages for that thread
sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't
when it doesn't, it only shows the last few posts to the thread & clik first/prev has no effect
kind of irritating because it forces me to use view option = message view & scroll thru page after page of stuff to get to thread I want to follow

This is a known bug - thanks!

how about adding some kind of option to sort the forums by most recent post ?
currently thread titles always appear in time post order, and a popular thread can get submerged by lots of useless chatter
I've seen forums where posting reply to thread pops that thread to top of list

this doesn't mean anything... answers are to a specific quiestion/post, so reorder them just by time would not allow to see to whome the answer is for anymore...

You're misunderstanding. Posts would stil be kept in threads, but the threads would be sorted by the timestamp on the most recent post, instead of the ts on the first post in the thread.
