Could a hybrid category be setup? That way when I am looking for new articles on say ASP and MFC I don't have to switch categories all the time. Each user could select what categories they wanted. Just an idea.

Chris,
I don't know if it has been suggested before, but have you ever thought about setting up a chat client on the site? Alot of people seem to 'chat' on the message boards and I wonder if some would prefer a chat area for some of the non programming related topics. Just a thought.

A lot of CPains use Sonork to chat. That way it doesn't use up bandwidth or processor time for the CodeProject servers. If you want to try it out you can get it free at http://www.sonork.com/(New Window)

Is there a 'channel' or 'room' that all the CP people are in? It seems to be just an instant messenger. Not exactally what I had in mind... instant messengers tend to be annoying (to me at least).

Colin Davies has done some negotiations with the people at Sonork and they have granted us an official sonork chat room.
Colin has called it "Bob's Hungout"
Usually CPians get together in that room and discuss stuff. Sometimes we only have 4 people in there, but I have seen it go as high as 16 once.

I am looking for a free racing game. Old style racing game without any complicated 3D stuff. Around 4 MB download. If anyone has such a game, please inform me.

How do you get into this? Or is it like before, we have to create it?

Ok, I added that 'Tracker Room' (Said I wanted to be listed) but I see no change. I'm still left with a blank Users window and no other windows popped up or anything.
Am I doing something wrong?

Tracker Room's are just a way for people to be listed in a central location the actual chat happens in a conference which someone has to start.
If you click on the robot head in the main window there is an option for Applications, choose conference. Now do a search for all conferences, if you see Bob's Hungout in the list join it; otherwise no one has it up and you can start it yourself (assuming you aren't behind a firewall).

Use sonork.
It's the unofficial CPian chat/IM client

leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know

It's also quite an excellent chat/IM client!

I should have emphasized the 'excellent' part. There are quite a few very mediocre chat/IM clients available, like AOL, MSN, ICQ. I like Sonork much more than its inferior competitors.

Is there a way to know how many messages a user has posted on a particular forum ?
Thanks,

Right now we only have a user's total post count.
dividing wont be easy.
There are the various forums and the lounge.
Those are fixed.
But then there are the various articles, some of which often get moved/deleted.
Then the polls where we can post.
so it wont be easy for the sysadmins to do that for us.
Maybe they can select a few main forums like lounge, C++, C# etc...

That looks freaky. Watch it for long enough and you start the little dance too...

That would be cool but I think it would be a little more space efficient if there were a few options instead of upload your own. Either way it would be pretty cool!

Yes it would. I like your options idea.
Maybe the women can have nice pink barbie doll icons
And the men can choose from weight-lifters to Johnny Bravo icons
