With the recent changes in the page layout, (ad on the left) the formatting of some of the articles is now to the point where the article text scrolls off the right side of the screen, even in 1024x768. For an example, see http://www.codeproject.com/wtl/rsprevfontcmb.asp. Please correct this if possible, because it really detracts from the usability of the site.

The bad formatting there is created when the code inside the <pre> tags is too long. Since the text block extends all the way over the rest of the page is formatted with the text extending over as well.
Not much to improve formmating except to ask the author to put some line breaks in his code so it doesn't do that.

The problem with that idea is what screen width do you format for? 1024 pixels is a nice size, any smaller and the code starts to look like sh!t.
I think a better idea would be for the <pre> tags to have a horizontal scroll bar. I have seen some articles with this, but I don't know how to do it.

I've seen them as well but don't remember where. If you could point one out I could disect the HTML (if you don't feel like it  ). I think someone mentioned that the submission wizard preview puts scroll bars on, but the final version doesn't have it.

Yeah, I didn't think anything of the <pre> tag you had in the text so I went and hit post knowing that it would look ok. Switched to another window while the page loaded then when I came back I yelped :-P
Perhaps another suggestion for would be for the Quote Selected Text button to change < and > to < and > so that doesn't happen

This is not a suggestion, it´s a question:
Let´s assume that I send an article at 30th march, not using the wizard. It´ll probably take some time to the article be published (3, maybe 4 days). Will it enter the article competition ?
Still about this topic... I´ll not send the article throught wizard because the file sizes are greater than 1.00MB, and the wizard doesn´t allow sending files greater than this. Suggestions: Why not raise this limit ?

So the yellow is OK, but the orange should go? Or the blue should go and the orange stay? Or change the grey, take away the yellow, mix the blue with the orange and add some purple?

The yellow and orange is fine, its the blue on the orange that is the problem, the links at the top for FAQ, What's New, etc use black for the link color so that would be a great choice

Could a hybrid category be setup? That way when I am looking for new articles on say ASP and MFC I don't have to switch categories all the time. Each user could select what categories they wanted. Just an idea.

Chris,
I don't know if it has been suggested before, but have you ever thought about setting up a chat client on the site? Alot of people seem to 'chat' on the message boards and I wonder if some would prefer a chat area for some of the non programming related topics. Just a thought.
