I like the idea of that. As a company owner, it would have been of interest to me to get ideas from others about issues such as research/marketing/budgeting, etc.

Long ago I suggested a WIKI style FAQ for CodeProject. The idea went no where, but what you mention could just as easily apply to "how do I clean my lcd screen" "what's the best digital camera", "what do you all use for XXX?" etc etc.

I agree. In a way, it would open up Pandorra's box. We may then need also to step-up Community Policing and more vigilant moderation practices to maintain the forums clean and beautiful.

Timespan to load: 1 minute to 1 minute 25 seconds.
I am browsing this from India (VSNL Broadband and Airtel Broadband same results).
But I don't think there is any issue with my Internet pipe since messageboards, articles and other URLs in CP are quite fast. I think, CP Team should address this page on a priority basis since it contains valuable contact information like Media Kit, Webmaster contact, Affiliations etc.

Could a "Spoiler" option be added to the "Message Type" menu? And could the message inside a "Spoiler" post have to be highlighted to be read, like on gaming forums? This would ensure that people don't accidentally read spoiler posts.

Instead of voting people out of the Lounge, have you considered reversing it? - People could post & vote in the Lounge only if they had been voted in?

To simplify your query are you visualizing something like this?
1) You post good threads in normal messageboards. Every vote you get CREDITs to your Vote Bank.
2) Now after accumulating certain credits, you can get that much of POSTs to submit or VOTEs to cast in special messageboards like Lounge and Soapbox?
This should be roughly similar to Yahoo Answers system. Isn't it?

I appreciate your suggestions. If you fondly trace back on the Suggestions, I had asked on 'Coloring' trick of nick and you had kindly guided me on that. I have been playing around with it for a while.
I observed little issues with Coloring Tricks:
1) With more HTML tags, even though the DISPLAY NAME textbox in Update Settings is able to accomodate them, the actual display gets truncated.
2) I would rather liked to be addressed as 'Deepak' but since in the Indian way, with the surname expanded before, it often gets into dragnet of ambiguity leading to the name being addressed as 'Vasudevan'. I just thought I would again update the nick emphasizing the addressable name.

I think, if a CP Admin could move our discussion threads over there to either this thread or to the previous query on 'Coloring Trick'.

I think it was Colin who pointed out when this was suggested a few months ago that it would lead to all kinds of "meriment" in the Lounge when you see something like this in a post:
Do not post programming questions here.

In other words, you'd still get programming questions only they'd have the above warning included.

Seriously, making this change will not affect the regulars (we've all made more than 10 posts and been here for a long time). If the number of programming questions in the Lounge continues to swell, you might as well remove it. If the flood *does* subside...

What I meant was: Regulars like Colin or CG will not see it because they have been around longer.
You (and Leslie) are saying instead of saying "How do I do X?" the regulars will be seeing "Do not post programming questions here. How do I do X?". How is it any different?
To be very frank, I think this is a very good idea. Of course, out here you are the Boss and if you don't { like it | think it will improve things } you don't have to. I would still urge a trial though.
