Chris, is there any way you could make it so a user can't reply to his or her own post? After all, they can edit the sucker if they want to add something new. This post padding stuff is becoming old.

Chris,
would it be possible to bump the priority of the reply e-mails in the forums up above the newsletter mailing, or in the worst case move the replys to a different server so that they go out ASAP.
In some cases you can end up waiting a full 24 hours for a reply to be received, and if you don't frequent the boards that often have a serious delay.

I think the newsletters could be sent out late Sunday night when few people are using the messageboards, then the messages would arrive early monday morning (something to read when you get to work) and would not interfere with the reply emails.

How about adding a dummy value at the top of the list so people don't think they're in the VC++ forum when posting to the lounge
It looks like that is the cause for the latest programming question [new window] in the lounge.

My 2 cents on posting to wrong forums:
Incorrect poster --- minus 1 point
Incorrect poster replyer --- minus 5 point
Maybe Chris could put a message on the posting page for each forum, saying:
'please don't post anything other that topic {0} into this forum.'

Well, people aren't reading the big red warning that's in the Lounge now, so another warning message ain't gonna do any good unless it's 72 point blinking text.

The pre tag (with the style sheet we use) never wraps text.

i just read them literally,very often i can not catch the real meanings behind the messages,about the author's feelings,sometimes it may be just a joke,or implies ironic,but i did not catch.

i know the best way is to go to english-speaking countries and communicate with them face to face.

I've heard from several sources that reading P J Wodehouse can be a good way to learn *one* kind of English. It will definately increase your vocabulary. I suppose if you get english TV you could cultivate the habit of carrying on imaginary conversations with the TV personalities, though this might earn you a few funny looks...

TV is a good idea.but since i am still living with my parents,if i watch english program,then they will have nothing to do except complaining.the result is i can not focus my attention and tune to other program.

You could convince your parents to learn english i suppose... I was serious about PG Wodehouse though; it'd do you good. You could also read Nish's book, it's sorta like PG Wodehouse, except it's got Indians instead of Brits.
