Most of the applications these days are becoming service oriented. I wonder why we dont have a separate board for SOA technologies like WS and WCF.
currently I guess WS are combined with ASP.NEt and WCF with WPF and WF...

Can we have a default country of something like La La Land for those who are really not interested in maintaining their profile, Other would do, it is irritating to see sooo many dumb questions coming from the US because people are not interested in changing the default.
Oh yeah and I want a smack icon too! some posts just deserve a smack, right next to the beer icon will do.

Why not just make India the default ? Or work out the right default from their IP address ?

Defeats the purpose, you would still get a % who accept the default and distort the info. I like to see where the poster resides and lalaland would tell me that the default was selected. A query on voted questions by forum/country would then be interesting also!

This would be good.

Chris,
Just ran into another anomaly when going to bookmarked forum messages from a forum (via My Bookmarks). I was in the C++ forum (basically 3 pages) using last visit and wanted to see the entire thread I was looking at. I bookmarked the last entry, then clicked on My Bookmarks, then Forum Messages. It now displayed the entire thread. There were many pages (more than 10). I re-read the starting entry of the thread, then backed out using the Back arrow three times (from the forum to the forum messages, then to the bookmarks, then back to the original forum. I believe it still said Last Visit, BUT... the Last Visit Line at the bottom now indicated the many (more then 10) available pages. I clicked on one of the extra available pages, but do not remember exactly what happened. I will repeat this to verify that fact that the Last Visit was still set and also report what happened when I clicked on the extra available page.
More to follow.
Dave Augustine.

Chris,
It would not repeat. The non-repeat may have been due to the fact that I found out that I had used Last Day (not Last Visit), changed it to Last Visit, then thought better of that action so changed it back to Last Day (so I could see the entry on page 3) then tried the repeat. the repeat did not happen.
The forum was set to Last Day, three pages and Next, I was on page 3, went to My Bookmarks (did not set a new bookmark - already set), then to Forum Messages, then to the forum. The forum now indicated All and 10 pages and Next, the highlighted forum was on page 4. I clicked Back three times, and the forum now said Last Day again, on page 3.
The first time I encountered this, it came back with 10 pages indicated, and when I clicked on page 10 it dropped me back to page 3 (this is what I remember it doing, but cannot now repeat this). It may have something to do with setting a bookmark and then going through the sequence.

Chris,
Another anomaly. The first entry was a selection of this forum after I discovered the error in the C++ forum. I retried the error on the C++ forum, then exited and went to this Forum again and started the second message. I seem to have a terrible memory, so I wanted to re-re-verify what happened, but this time I started a new FF Tab and reproduced the error, then went back to the first FF Tab to continue the message. I then submitted the message, but noted that this forum was now reading All, not Last Day, and had many pages, not just 1. I went to the second FF Tab and killed the tab, which dropped me back to this Tab, and suddenly, this forum now said Last Day and 1 page again.
None of this is a show stopper, just noted anomalies.
Dave Augustine.

Chris,
Amazing, when I came back after submitting the prior (third) message, this forum says All again.
I thing I will just close this tab and start all over and see what my date filter has.

Chris - the View Unanswered Questions link in the C# forum (and possibly others) doesn't display unanswered questions. It displays all questions.

Just checked:
There's a note at the top of the unanswered questions page:
Note that a question remains "unanswered" until the member who created the question explicitly marks an answer as a "good answer". This means that a question could appear on this list despite having a number of answer-type replies.
I think this could be what is causing the confusion. We need a way to encourage members to mark questions "answered"
