Not in English I'm afraid. Beg means beseech, ask etc, hence a beggar is one who asks (for alms).
Interesting that your dictionary and mine are so different, and yet we (pretend to) speak the same language.

It seems that the cursor is not positioned into the Text: area when replying to a post (at least, not on my machine using FF) - so i quite often start typing then look up to notice nothing is actually being typed.

It's been MIA for the last few days in FF, but is still there in IE.

how did you break FF? Mine works fine (3.0.14)

If I knew that I wouldn't be posting here. What's really wierd is that the icon does show up in the address bar when it's showing suggestions, but not next to the URL of the displayed page or in the tab bar. Other sites all appear to be working normally.

In tips&tricks the vertical layout is quite different between Preview and final result:
- preview uses much more height, for one it seems to translate each empty line to an empty paragraph, although I think there is more to it than just that; see use-PRE-tags.aspx[^]
- the final view is OK, i.e. it corresponds to what I expect form text with or without some HTML tags, same as forum messages.

Thanks - we'll get this sorted.

PRE linecount='on' works fine in forum messages and QS; however it does not work in Tips&Tricks, see use-PRE-tags.aspx[^]
FWIW: I never understood why it needs 'on' instead of '1' or 'true'

We have a bug with the linecount thing. It needs to be specified first: lang="C#" linecount="on" won't work. linecount="on" lang="C#" will.
I'll make it work with true and 1 as well.

recent tools and tips get listed on the CP homepage.
applying a small edit, maybe for bumping the TT, does not change the MRU list (nor the date displayed in such list); I can understand that (except for the date displayed).
applying a large edit does not affect the list either. That is no good.
I added some 30% to by PRE tip, I'm fortunate TT isn't popular (yet), so I'm still on the list; otherwise nobody would ever notice I added something.

We don't bump articles/tips in the list within 7 days of their posting. This was done to stop people posting an article then touching it everyday to have it hover at the top and bump out others.
It's only fair.

I understand you don't want to stimulate bumping edits; what with real edits (like mine )?

I find myself visiting only a few message boards regularly (Lounge / C# / Soapbox, WPF and ASP).
Would it be possible to make the Message Board Categories collapseable, or provide logged in users with registered with a maintainable list of preferred forums for easy access.

I use FireFox bookmarks for that purpose, a single row of them can hold more than 10, 3 of which I use for CP.

K try 2
I'v been getting CP without any sort of layout for the past couple days now (not always and a refresh usually solves it but it's getting a bit annoying)
I'v got screenshots I you want them.
Last time it happened was posting this message (hence the try 2 ) and was on web22, there did seem to be a timeout on the posting of the message.

text wrapped in <code lang="text">, note that the <>'s around JoinIterator caused it to be eaten, while the pair later before f__AnonymousType were left intact:

To make this display correctly as inline code I had to replace the first < with a & lt;

Are you expecting PRE to do the HTML encoding for you? I believe you must select "Encode HTML tags when pasting" (if you are typing, you must manually type < and >), otherwise you will get erratic behavior.

If it ate all the <>'s I wouldn't've said a word. I was commenting on the inconsistency of it eating one pair but not the other. It looked like the hamsters were trying to be clever but didn't quite succeed.

If you view the source of this page, you'll note that the hamsters aren't being clever at all... the less thans and greater thans are still there. It is the browser that's eating them at its whim.
