"Tongue in cheek"? Bulging cheek on one side, smile on other? Can you get that much detail into 16x16? It would probably take me a week to get a half-decent picture (that's why they don't pay me to do graphics design). You are obviously much more talented in that direction, judging from the existing smilies!

I would argue against this.
Sarcasm ought to be obvious, plus where there is room for mis-interpretation, there is room for forgiveness!

I agree, joke and sarcasm icons are redundant. I'd rather have a yawn icon, which *is* different from a sleep icon BTW.

The way some people react, joke and sarcicon [tm] are needed, if only to show the target that you think they are too retentive to understand written humour.
For example, with the likes of you, or DD and POH, I would probably not bother to emphasise that a comment was made in jest. But for other, shall I say 'special' people, the prompt would be mandatory.

Maybe then I want a no-sarcasm icon too.

Do not forget that we have different cultures that may not grasp the point. English is not the best language for understanding a sentence.

I agree entirely. If you need to indicate it, it's not sarcasm. The best sarcasm is subtle, biting and works on many levels.

That's a smiley. I think the Joke message type icon covers the original request.

While we are at it - how about a 'bow in respect' icon - it can be used whenever a good answer to a problem is suggested.
Something like what they have on Skype.

Then we need an icon which says "get lost" or something similar.
The icon request list is growing....

Hey Chris,
The new style seems to be less readable than the old one. For one, it's smaller (not that big a deal), but the change from black to green makes the text less readable, specially for edited articles. Unedited articles have a bluish gray background that makes the green stand out, but the yellowish background edited articles have doesn't make the current shade of green an ideal foreground color. I may get used to it after a while but right now it does look a little odd.

IMO it is bad: both smaller and less contrast. Why oh why?

Seems other styles were changed, such as the color of "Welcome to the Lounge"... was that intentional? I think I liked the green more.

I'm getting a completely wrong layout on the forums (the left forum list is expanded all over the page and the forum itself is underneath it)
Seems to happen only on web15 (but did have it on web22 as well but that seems to be ok now)
[Update] pressing 'post message' just fixed the layout but didn't actully post the message (I think) [\Update]
[Edit]Web18 / web19 seem to be suffering from it as well now [\edit]
