Yikes.
Everywhere the word "Microsoft" appeared you had a massive amount of custom (non standard) markup from the Leonardo highlighter. You also had some form elements at the bottom of the article that are not permitted.
I've cleaned, rinsed, and towel-dried.

This morning I tried to vote this nice article[^] but the moment I hover my mouse over the voting area the "Add the reason or comment for your vote" text box pops up and covers the radio buttons, thus prevents me from voting . Mind you, I am not talking about the mandate to comment low votes - I was going to vote the article 5 and even if I enter a comment the box does not go away.
The browser is IE 8 on Windows 7. Screen resolution: 1920 x 1200
[EDIT] I managed to vote by using the keybord [/EDIT]

Very odd. Can you please try viewing the article again and hitting Ctrl+F5? We updated the styles and it could be that your browser is caching the styles longer that it should.

This happened to me earlier on IE8, I switched on off compatibility view and all as good.
Sorry, not very helpful when wrong info is given! So it misbehaves with compatibility on under IE8.
DaveIf this helped, please vote & accept answer!

You almost tricked me with the feint, but I've worked it out and it should be good now. Both with and without compatibility mode

Ctrl+F5 did not help. Switching to the compatibility mode did.

I can repro it. I get the voting comment panel popup and it disappears when I move my mouse out of it.
But my vote did go through, as did my comment.

This user[^] is throwing 1-votes in Q&A without giving a meaningful reason.
And I just saw, that he is insulting others as a**hole.

I just came here to report the same.
He is putting crap and duplicate answers as well. I deleted one of the duplicate answer.

I've just been through his comments and deleted them. Hopefully the votes will vanish too.

Check out this question.
When I tried to add an answer, I was told "We have tried to add your answer 3 times without success. Our servers are just a little overworked. Sorry."
I then attempted to add it again, and it succeeded. When I went back to the question, I noticed my answer had been posted twice. This indicates that 1) the first error message was incorrect and 2) there is nothing stopping me from posting the same exact answer more than once to a given question. FYI, I deleted the duplicate answer.

On the top left of the screen it says (as I am typing) 7,251,134 members and growing. But I conducted a small "test" which baffled me and hence this post.
For about a minute, once in about 5 seconds, I refreshed the home page and I found the following numbers.
* 7,252,168
* 7,252,778
* 7,252,168
* 7,252,778
* 7,251,134
* 7,251,890
* 7,252,778
* 7,251,134
* 7,252,168
* 7,251,890
* 7,252,168
What does that mean? Members online can understandably grow and shrink but members count itself fluctuates !

It is a Cache problem.
The number online changes too.
Each time you refresh you get a new server, and they are not all in synch.

The mirrored servers are not synced in real time, so you'll always see a discrepancy depending on what server you hit.

True, however 7M accounts in 10 years, that's an average of 1.2 per minute. So maybe it would be better to sync the number every minute, or to broadcast new accounts right away. I don't see a DOS attack anytime soon here.

I know this would probably be quite complex to do, but...
Would it be possible to remove or disable the "Add an Answer" button from questions if you are the OP?
Frequently, the OP posts a question, someone posts an answer, and the OP posts another answer along the lines of "No, you have misread, I need this instead...". Since it is another answer the original answerer is not notified and so does not improve his response.
Removing the "Add an Answer" button would force them to use the "Add Comment" widget instead.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.
