I don't know if this has already been said. Considering this is a programming site, I have the following two suggestions.
It seems like the "debate" points earned by a member in the programming zone is clubbed with the ones earned in the banter/rant zone. It would be convenient and useful if they are split into their own sub category. I feel people who aren't the regulars or are the lurkers (even the non member ones) will find it easy to consider answers given by people with "credentials", so let the rep points actually reflect this.
Also, going a step ahead, in every member's profile page, it would be helpful to have a list of domains/categories in which that member has answered the most and has earned high rep points.

Answering a question in a Programming Zone gives you Authority Points, a ramble or conversation point gives you a Debator Point.
That seems reasonable.
As you say this is a Programming Site, not the Statistical Department of Edinburgh University.
I can't see the benefits of over analysis, most 'droppers in' do not care who helps, those who are more permanent know who are the experts in their fields.

No, I feel it is still going to be helpful. I didn't know a lot of members existed till their name showed up in programming zone and I had to check on them.

I think it'll be a nice to have if the site provides some kind of networking tools for users. There are more than 10,000 developers in the company I work for and am sure a lot of them will be members here and a few hundreds may even be active members. I wanted to search users who have mentioned their employer but that's not possible. I'm sure people who want a professional network will go to LinkedIn or similar, but if there's a way to let users link to each other based on employer or location or specialization, that will help, Technical networking, for lack of a better term. I don't know about other employers, but in mine, though we have internal messengers, blogs, wikis etc, there's no real place to congregate online and discuss technology.

You can create a group account and have members join that group. The group then has its own discussion board.
You can also search the discussion boards for mentions of your company - just use the search box at the top right.

I believe Richard's hinting at how the author's lastname is the same as that of one of the 5-voters. It could be his wife or sister or someone in his family. But then I don't think there's anything wrong in that. If Smitha wrote an article and I thought it was good, I'd 5 vote it too.

I think he is trying to tell about how an article was accepted though the code part was not presented in a PRE tag, instead an image was used.

Oh alright. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong if an author chooses to show a few code snippets using a screenshot. I've done this on a few occasions too when I wanted to add meta-imagery to the screenshot (like arrows or circles).

I was complaining about the layout of one of the web pages. I answered one of your recent emails and found stuff about a beginners tutorial. I have cut part of it below, so I hope you can identify it. The problem seemed to be that a semi transparent strip on the RHS overlayed the main text and reduced its legibility.

I would suggest you to please use the forum present at the end of the article in order to reach author and get quick response.

If you notice this article was posted 10 years ago, and it looks like the author has not been active since then, so I doubt that anything will be done about it. As Sandeep suggested you should post comments about articles in the forum at the end of the article itself, although in this case I don't think you will get a reply.
