That should do wonders for the old rep count. Won't it.

Bob intended the site to be a programmer's resource. When he ordered a Launch page all he really wanted was just a portal to all the forums, however he got misunderstood and got yet another forum (Da Lounge) that wasn't about programming at all, and didn't fit on a single page either.

Just seeing the current thread in the lounge reminded me of an annoying bug that bit me during my last article submission.
In step 1) you enter some basic details and choose a Name for the Article.
Proceeded to step 2) at which point I decided I didn't like the title (or had made a mistake) and clicked the back button on the form.
I corrected whatever I wanted to change in Step 1) and then proceeded to Step 2) only to be told that the Name is already in use now, I should hope so, I already selected it at the beginning!
The process should know that the name has already been verified as available the first time you move to step 2, and not check again if you didn't change it.

When I go to this link (a permalink for a message I posted), I am shown the first page of the forum, though my message currently resides on the second page of the forum. I've seen this behavior a few times before.
Actually, I just tried clicking that link again and this time it is opening fine. Perhaps this depends on the message making its way to another server or if its the very first message on a page (maybe the calculation performed to check which page it's on is slightly off).

I think that is because this message was just posted and bumped my message down so it is now the second message on the second page rather than the first message on the second page.

I accidentally bookmarked the Lounge and now it won't delete the bookmark when I click to delete it.

See this message. It appears to be an exact duplicate of this message. Even the post times are the same.
The copy message is at the same offset from the left as the original, even though that doesn't make sense (if it were a reply to the message above it, it wouldn't be so far offset). I'm thinking this message got duplicated due to a bug.

Hi,
I published a new article yesterday - Progress reporting in C# 5 async[^].
It showed up in the "Latest Articles" RSS feed, but has not appeared on the front page and my article count has not updated.
I submitted it "privately" first, then made it public, if that makes any difference.
Hlp plz
Cheers,
Nick

I've fixed the issue with your count (a bug we fixed last week but hadn't had a chance to fully release the update to) and, unfortunately, the homepage appearance won't happen due to it dropping off the tail of the list.
We have an outstanding bug regarding date weirdness when you publish something privately and then make it public. I'll bump that one up a little in priority.
cheers,

In This message[^], the member is posting a link to an absolutely disgusting and offensive page about cruelty to animals.
It is my opinion that no serious site should or would condone or allow anything like this, and I urge Chris and Co. to remove the message containing the link immediately!

I am sorry, but I see know difference between the butchery and consumpion of a cat or the butchery and consumption of a pig.
If you are a vegetarian then I suppose the eating of any meat would be unpleasant for you, but if you are a normal omnivore like most humans, then the consumption of meat should not be a problem to you.
To remove the link is just censorship based on opinion rather than for legal reasons.
I have eaten cat, dog, frog, snake, insect and god knows what else.
Just because you dislike it is not a reason to stop others from enoying their "viande du jour".

Dave (& Griff for that matter too) - I've always thought of you as an educated and intelligent person. Guess I misjudged you. If you can't see what I'm opposing to, then tough titties!
I didn't post this as a subject for a debate, if I had done that, I would have posted it in the Lounge.
I posted it for the CP responsibles so that they can decide for themselves if this is the image they want people to have of their site. As you are neither, then this post was not directed at you, wherefor your opinion is totally irrelevant to the matter.
Suffice to say: I find the link to that degree offensive, repulsive and completely unbefitting a programming forum. If you don't agree, I couldn't care less...

The image isn't on the site, it is merely a link that you may or may not choose to click to.
CP are not the moral police, and neither are you.

So I guess that THIS[^] type of links are ok too (I'm sure that there are better links out there that could better prove my point, but use your own imagination and add some mental pictures to this.

It's good to know - that if your son is interested in programming and browses the CodeProject and finds links like the ones mentioned here or in the message that I'm opposed to - That his father thinks it appropriate for him. Or your sister - or your mother... IDIOT!
