How about that!
Turns out our redirection mapper thought "...task.aspx" sounded a little too much like "ask.aspx" and so setup the question in asking mode.
Fixed, will deploy tomorrow.

This guy[^] is being deliberately offensive including using the name of someone who lost a child.
Can you do something?

Hi Chris, I agree, and I appreciate the efforts you and your team has been putting in.
However, in case of "abusive" message (I am not referring to the one suggested by Trollslayer, as I am not aware of the same), I myself can remember clicking that option for several messages, where the language was abusive. However, the message was never removed. Is it like, the message would be removed only if 10 people report or so, I feel, in case people have reported the message, it would be good if any of the moderator has a look at it and then takes appropriate action.

Please accept my apologies, I knew it may have been considered bad taste, but thought there has been a long enough time period as to not of caused offence or upset. If you had of replied to the thread or e-mailed me direct expressing your feelings I would have deleted it myself immediately.

I think it may have been more backroom material rather than the lounge, but I didn't think it offensive.
I have certainly heard worse.

Different people are offended by different things. The intention was humour though and not offence, so I would have deleted it straight away. I knew I shouldn'ty have watched Frankie Boyle last night!

I have been wondering if there is not a mechanism that can auto mark a question as being answered?
There are plenty of occasions when the question has been clearly and obviously answered and yet the OP doesn't bother to say 'thank you' by marking it as answered.
I would have thought it could be marked as answered after getting 5 5's for example or maybe allow members with platinum authoritah to go in after an answer is left open for a period of say 5 days.

I guess, I am yet to get a 5 5's on any of my answer!

This has been discussed here quite a few times. As much I remember, something was decided for this and is in the TO-DO list.

This was discussed for a long time in this forum, and I'm still completely against this.
Only the person that posts the question can truly say it's the answer he wanted (or that worked). Many problems have several solutions, and allowing someone else (or the system) to mark a question as answered is just plain wrong. I think a "propose as answer" mechanism would be a better idea, and the user could get an email every time pushed the Propose as Answer button. I would also not allow the person that posted the answer to be allowed to propose it as an answer because the act of posting it implies it's the proposed answer.

This user[^] has been trolling in the lounge (and presumably in other areas of the site).

As always, with trolls, just ignore him. You've tried to help him and he obviously enjoys baiting people, so just ignore his drivel. In the end, he'll give up.
|
|
|
|

Certainly! I started ignoring him after just having one interaction with him. However, he's continuing to post his drivel in the lounge, and someone or the other is going to pick a fight with him which could lead to flamewars.
He could listen when suggested politely about the site etiquette and behaving properly here, but he just won't listen. Either ways, almost everything that he's posted is drivel.
I thought I'd notify Chris.
