Works perfectly, and strangely the top item was an old CCC!

more proof: I used "asseveration" (today's CCC answer) a couple of days ago in a reply to Trollslayer, and now I can't find it any more with CP search.
Google returns this[^] which I enter as evidence; however the link isn't functioning as expected. Even the cached page is unrelated.
Also CP search for "a declaration that is made emphatically" returns nothing.
Seems like a number of items have not been indexed for some reason.
Found it here[^].

It looks like our search crawler missed some messages during an incremental crawl. We'll do a full recrawl tonight during off-peak.

The search indexes have been updated and poor Bill can be now found.
A couple of tips. Some punctuation have special meaning in the query, including ':'.
If you have a phase such as a title, put it in quotes "Bill the cat: calling a spayed a spayed", or just leave out the punctuation.

Is there a list anywhere of the acceptable values for lang=??? in a <pre > tag? When I'm pasting code blocks or tidying up other peoples', I sometimes feel the need to change the language, but I don't know any more than the bleedin' obvious ones.

If I go to Q+A, find a good answer and upvote it, it shows the good ol' red segmented bargraph for that answer. Everything else has the newfangled stars. Go away and come back to it, the one I voted now got stars.
Looks like the migration was almost, but not quite, done.

(I'm guessing it's only temporary.) Tried several ways into Q+A, and always getting the right page with 0 entries no matter whether it's for all, unanswered, my posts, ... No filters, in case you ask.
Looks like we might have to all follow Luc!

I'm just doing some database maintenance (defraging indices, which to me is as much fun as mowing a lawn) so the DB was a little busy. All over now.

I wouldn't mind getting a few more questions in the programming forums, even some of the funnier/dumber ones would be welcomed; we are starting to miss them.

When I did a search of forum messages, I selected one of the results which happened to be on page 24052 (from sometime in the year 2001). EVERY time I try to go to that message (or even just that page) I get the message that there's a heavy load and to try again.
Seems to me that it's broken.

Yeah, this is a known bug. If a message is old enough, you can't reach it. Very annoying and hopefully they are working on fixing it.
|
|
|
|
|
Well, at the least the message could say, "No can do. Why don't you go have some bacon and try again later?"
