Not a good idea, Platinum status can be achieved by people who often don't abide by the rules, or generally accepted practice, and could therefore use such power for malicious purposes.

Minimum Post Number as well, as, generally, these people will be around long enough to have not made a complete arse of themselves.
Suggest - Platinum Status, 10K posts, 3 years Membership.
That would cover enough people to police the site whilst winnowing out those that may abuse the power.

Half way there in terms of time, and by then the 10K post will be made, I'm sure.

Seriously...
Then forget about the Platinum status and come up with a good set of criteria. See my reply to Rage in this thread for some of my ideas.

and what a fine job they are doing with the Lounge. I think the community would do a better job. This is all I am saying.

I think you are losing sight of the issue. There are occasional posts which are not appropriate to the Lounge and either get voted down or reported. Chris generally cleans up quite quickly on the bad ones and everyone is happy. Do we really need anything more?

Many (perhaps most) of the inappropriate threads are ironically started by Platinum status members. Not a good idea

"Inappropriate" is a subjective view.

Yeah, it sure is. So eventually what'll work is for Chris to select a group of moderators who will mostly share his views on what's appropriate and what's not.

I dare say that you didn't think of me a little when you wrote this.
You are one of the very few members on this site that I respect and have watched and learned from for many years before I became "active" here. I have been coming to this site for about 7 years now but have only participated in the last 3+ years as Slacker007. A lot of the members here are pretentious, self serving slobs. However, you, Pete, John, and a few others have been main stays here and have always been real.
If you think this is a bad idea then you are probably right.

You've posted this to Nish by mistake.

I don't think so.
I originally came to this site a long time ago to learn and to be with my fellow programmers and not to be the controversial a**hole I am today. I do respect Nish and a select few others here for reasons I don't fully wish to explain now. Nish may not care for my antics (deep down inside) but that doesn't stop me from being who I am and how I feel about things. I call it as I see it.

No, I didn't! Sorry if it sounded that way.

I don't think the idea is completely bad, I just think that Platinum status is not good enough to be able to trust a member to do this maturely. I'd prefer it if Chris hand-picked a dozen or so members and gave them forum moderation rights. That would work better than what you suggested (in my opinion).

It's to the point where all I'm doing is inspecting a small, smoking hole where the account used to be.
Thank you guys!

Hi,
I've noticed that my blog feed hasn't been polled since 16th June? Is there a problem with the blog feeds at the moment, or have I set something up wrong?
Please advise.

I'll try and dig in tomorrow. There's another blog which is also refusing to be pulled. I'll dig in and see what's happening.

I removed my blog feed and re-added it again. That seems to have solved the problem.

I have just published this article[^] via the online submission wizard (first try and it works really well). However, when using the Browse Code tab I find that a number of files which should be browsable are not. These include ones with the following extensions:
.reg a file containing registry import data relevant to the article
.vcproj a VS2008 project file
.vcxproj[.*] VS2010 project files
I'm not sure how you check whether a file should be browsable online but may I request that the foregoing be added to the list?

Too easy. I'll have the code updated hopefully later tomorrow.
Hang on - later today. That time already?

I noticed a download is now only worth 1 point. Have you also implemented the code that reduces back-dated downloads (and adds in as-yet uncounted ones?
