Sorry, I thought you wanted all buttons to be colored the original Maunder-red (replaced now with the Google-red).

The New Message button is meant to be a little bigger, a little brighter than the others.
The fire engine has left.

Okay, I can see they're all nice and rounded.

The layout is beginning to look messy guys. There are some components with rounded corners and others with square corners. Shirley they should all be the same.
Seriously, shouldn't you at least give all the buttons purdy rounded corners? Then I'll let you off on the text boxes.

The rounded corners are indicative of the new metrosexual look and feel Chris's giving the site.

Thanks! Don't know why that color is bothering me so much, guess it's just one of those things...
Posted (pleaded) on the thread you linked, so hopefully Chris will change it, otherwise I'm forced to resize my browser window to fit the textarea.

Because red is the color associated with cancellation, green is the action color of choice.

Fed up by FireFox memory leaks I switched to Opera and now CP doesn't perform its paste magic, so links will not be offered. Sorry.

Red is also the colour associated with "stop", as in "stop and look before you proceed".
Sometimes people need to do that more often.

Red is also a rather nasty color to look at on a bright LCD screen!
A darker orange shade or green would have worked better I'd think.

One has to stop and think twice before pressing cancel, as data might get lost inadvertantly.
Pressing post is the normal operation, and it can be undone, that is what the delete widget is for.
Applying red for the normal use is as silly as using a Start button to shutdown a computer.

Why then is the "Submit your question" button in Q&A green?

I like it this way, it shows up much better than the old orange. Also I'm less likely to confuse it with the other buttons.

I find the red button to be extremely retro. It helps the ancient ones see it better.

It's not as harsh now. As the sincerest form of flattery I have copied the colours from GMail. No doubt they have spent billions on determining exactly the right shade of red - one that alerts, without alarming.

Nice, the new color is subtle and does not hurt the eyes anymore.

It's refined, well-bodied, yet has an air of sophistication about it without being stuffy. It's smooth, rounded contour lines are aerodynamic and sleek. It commands the attention of all who gaze upon it.
