Just a small thing - I can see the report flag on messages and users.
My cat Dij[^]can't: he can't see a flag on teh user or the message.
But my (now sadly deceased) cat Bill_the_Cat[^] can see and report users, but not messages.
Surely if you can report a user (and get the account banned) you should be able to report a message? I could understand being able to report a message, but not a user since removing a user account is a lot more disruptive if done maliciously - but I can't see the logic in reporting users, not not their messages?
(The reason this came up was trying to explain to someone why they might not see the flag to report spam)
If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.

Hi OriginalGriff,
Between you and two cats (one dead, one living), I got lost in trying to imagine the exact scenario you are describing here.
Humor me, please, and explain to me how you can report a message as spam without that also being a report of the user who created the message as a spammer.
"removing a user account is a lot more disruptive if done maliciously:" are you saying that you have personally witnessed user accounts here on CP being removed "maliciously" ? More than once ? Often ?
I'm not trying to "challenge" what you are saying here; I'm just genuinely unable to get a fix on what you are describing.

Reporting the message using the red flag does not add a "Spammer" report on the account - so the message can be deleted without the account going - pop over to "spam and abuse" and you'll see that most people now link to both so the account can be closed as well as the offending message(s) deleted. To remove the account (and stop them posting more such advertising material) you have to perform the separate action of reporting the user via it's red flag. Look at this example: http://www.codeproject.com/Messages/4435537/Q-A-Spam.aspx[^] where a number of messages were reported as spam individually, but the member account was still running, so he continued to post.

How many times did Micheal Martin have his account deleted in a single weekend?

My guess - current scenario of ratings turned of for the forums might be the reason for not having report option...
I was told that even the article new votes are not being counted in currently. Further, I don't see the already provided votes to messages at various forums.
Once, everything is back to normal, if your scenario/question exists, surly it makes sense to ask why so!

The forum reporting system is still tied to the Ratings system (other reporting systems aren't). By turning off the ratings to alleviate the load issue (until I can do a proper fix) it means you can't report messages.
I know. It's annoying. It's bad architecture. It needs fixing.

It's so refreshing when you get management saying that!

It is related to this QA simple query on gridview[^]
The OP has posted a non-solution with a picture. I edited the non-solution to copy the html of the picture and then edited the question to add the picture.
It was OK in the preview. But once submitted, it didn't show the picture on the question but it showed half of the html used.
Is it a bug?
EDIT: OP has deleted the answer with the pic. This is the html envolved.

<img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/98hukw.png" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></img></a>
This code made the picture appear in the solution as link and as image at the same time. But in the question it just appeared as half link without image.
Regards.

Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

Sorting with Reputation is not actually sorting correctly when checking list of users.
Go to Who is Who and sort by Reputation. I believe this is the similar issue of reputation, but as it is resolved this should also be resolved.

With the latest update we have moved reputation from being site-specific to being a network wide value for your accounts. ie your rep on CodeProject will follow you to RootAdmin once we've completed the upgrades on RootAdmin, and again onto any other site we add to our network.
In doing this, a bug we thought squashed has appeared again.
Your rep is stored in 3 places: Raw data (accurate), summary data per rep type (should be accurate), and a final total value that's displayed at the top right of the page (should also be accurate, but it wasn't). This value (the final total) is updated separately, but at the same time as your rep points, and unfortunately, despite the efforts of the team to ensure it was in-sync, it became out of sync with the raw rep data we had stored.
The main point: The raw data is accurate. The rep point total you saw at the right of your name at the top of each was not accurate. It was, in some cases, high. The resync has set your rep points to what they actually should be. No points have been "lost".
So, when moving rep data we did a full resync and this has resulted in that value being lower than it was before the sync. As far as I can tell, and I do need to check this, the values per-rep-type (eg your author rep, or authority rep) were always accurate, and it's these values that determine your abilities and voting weight on the site. After checking it looks like it was the summary of the individual rep types that was inaccurate, so some members have lost a member level in some rep types. However, the raw data from which the calculations are based is accurate and so the new values are the true values. I know this doesn't help make anyone feel any better, though.
I'm going to throw the kitchen sink at this and find out what was done, what's happening, and how to stop it happening again, and I apologise for not having this fixed previously.
In a related issue the data migration initially missed on a bunch of rep points between Nov 16 and 22. These were migrated back over and your reputation values updated with the missing values.

For 2 days reputation point doesn't increase in Authority and Editor section even after answering question. But it increase in Organizer section! What's the problem here?I know this site is under development now,for which this problem may cause(as i see some other members also face same problem). So my question is how many times require to fix this problem?

I just discovered I lost 2K+ points overnight. I'm not a big point watcher (I know I won't get close to any of the heavies in this lifetime) but it's not a nice feeling to be discounted on what appears to be a "whim".

No, which is why I used a smiley. I was just trying to figure out how I lost 2K points overnight. I don't mind that, but it would be nice to know why.
I just saw your new informational post. Thanks!

Why had my rep. points gown down from 11k to 8k ? Is there some problem?

Chris,
I saw your informational message. Being very new to CP, am bit obsessed with point hence I have followed my points from beginning and saw increasing after every answe/upvote.
Seeing 1000 points disappearing and the reasoning given in the information message is not very clear. For instance, just day before the upgrade I know I attained silver in organizer and boom...gone. 100+ point in organizer and some 700-800 in authority.
So what should we understand? These points are gone forever ?
Also, couple of answers given yeterday is NOT accounted in the rep.
Thanks,
Milind

Just now i anserwered a question To parse a string in console application[^] and still points aren't added to Authority section. When also edited my answer and still points aren't added for that.I think some other members also face it.So i think problem still there..

So no way to report spam?

I think reporting spam isn't possible now.
I hope there's no spam in the Lounge until the report button is gone.

There is still the Spam and Abuse Watch Forum[^] - I'm just guessing they will keep a closer eye than they normally do on it for the time being. And they kept a pretty sharp eye before...
