Well, it appeared after all, without any change. But check for yourself Voice recorder suggestion for my website[^] and tell me what should I avoid writing...
And what about the fact that OP was able to see my answer whilst I wasn't?
If this isn't a bug...

When a message is trapped by the Spam filter it gets posted to a queue on the home page, until one of us with the appropriate privilege releases it. A bit of a pain I know, but the site is getting attacked lately by spammers. Take a look in the Spam and Abuse forum to see how many get picked up every day.

Did someone forget to push the "turbo" button on one of your servers? Every page is taking 12+ seconds to get a response from the server, and judging by this thread[^], it's been going on for over six hours.
EDIT: And, as if by magic, as soon as I post this message, the response times are back to normal.

We've just spent the better part of an hour trying to work out what happened.
It turns out for a single sproc, there were two cached plans. One sensible, one not. The sensible plan was what was being shown in SQL Server Management studio (which has ARITHABORT = ON). Running under .NET, ARITHABORT is FALSE, and so our code was getting the other, crappy plan.
DBCC FREEPROCCACHE didn't work.
Messing with the connection object in .NET worked - but was clumsy.
Out came the hammer and I've manually changed the database default - bingo, instant fix. Except it's a band-aid so I need to ensure that the execution plan with and without ARITHABORT are both sensible.

Been there, got the t-shirt.
You can use SET ARITHABORT ON inside an individual stored procedure, if you don't want to change the database or server default.
There's some good discussion of the problem on this StackExchange thread[^], and some fairly detailed information in this article[^].

Only if you have a GO statement after the SET OPTION statement. That wasn't working for us.

Not according to "option 2" in this answer[^]:
CREATE PROCEDURE ...
AS
BEGIN
SET ARITHABORT ON
SELECT ...
END
GO

Yeah - I saw that was possible syntactically, but I was reading that it doesn't actually make the change.
I should have experimented but the klaxons were blaring and there were lots of wild eyes.
The thing that did my head in (mostly) was that the sproc plan cache did not seem to be getting flushed after the DBCC call. And then suddenly it was.
Insanity.

The issue started 5:20PM Toronto time. Unfortunately the site performance didn't degrade enough to trigger our alerts. It was bad - but not bad enough!

I've asked a question at QA[^], and got an answer...but got 20! notifications about it...(I left 18 there to see)...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Hello,
I have a blog which uses Jekyll and Octopress to generate a static site. For code highlighting I use OctoPress's triple-tick
syntax. Apparently it generates an ugly HTML which makes it unreadable when imported to CP.
When a blog article is consumed, would it be affected by any changes I make to the original source?
My plan is to publish the post with pre tags around the code snippets then once it's consumed and looks nice on CP I can update my original post with the triple-ticks.
Of course I'd appreciate if you recommend an easier/better way.
Thanks.

Can you please send me a link to your blog's RSS or a sample of the HTML it generates? Email chris at codeproject.com and I'll see if I can make things easier.

Thank you, Chris. I sent an email with the information you requested. Octopress is generating somewhat weird HTML with lots of spans.
In the meantime if I update my blog after it has been consumed it wouldn't effect the version on the CodeProject, right?
I'm not sure if they are updated or it consumes only the new posts.

Apologies for not getting a chance to reply to your email. The html is definitely odd. I was actually curious as to why octopress is doing what it's doing because when I view it he code isn't actually colourised- it's monochrome.
The easiest thing for me to do is sniff whether or not the colouriser is seeing an octopress mess and if so clean the pre block before colorising.

While updating my profile picture, my pictures contain some special characters and your system refuse to update it and show me the error page of evil hamsters with warning of illegal characters passed in your profile picture path.
THis error stick while updating the other settings as well with profile picture remove, error seems to come in every page i visit and try to update my profile info atleast i try to refresh it with cache clear by pressing ctrl + f5 key combination and it work well.
kindly look into this issue.

Took me a second to figure it out too, but we simply plotted a little ahead. Don't let that spoil the magic, though.
