An icon resource can hold several formats for a single icon. Here, the salesup icon is lacking a format which could allow displaying it properly with large icon.

Almost certainly, you have produced you icon at a single resolution - an icon can be at many different resolutions: Windows Icon Sizes - Simple Guide to Windows Icons (ICO)[^]

What I understood from the article is that I should put more versions of the icon (all sizes) in my program , but where do I put those icons !!

In the icon file, where did you think?

I believe GIMP can do it, and there are loads of more "dedicated" icon editors available - Google will find you plenty.
