Does anybody know why the LoginStatus appears to be LOGGED IN, even though i'm not logged in ?
One more thing, if i want to log out, by pressing the LogOut button, the result is identical: the LoginStatus show the same "LogOut" text.
Any help it will be great !

Has anyone tried to use these with Visual Web Developer Express 2k5 or Visual Web Developer Orcas or can you only use this with Visual Studio (Standard or Professional)?

Hi All
I have this sample working with my database, and tried adding the following web.config settings:
minRequiredPasswordLength="5"
minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="1"
but neither setting is currently getting recognised. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

It could possibly be the field structure in your database, because there is a warning about using MySQL 4 in the tutorial as follows:
"Create the tables (note that these SQL commands might not work with MySQL 4)."

What do you mean "Create a virtual path? Do you mean a new virtual directory and then point that just at the app_data folder or at the root folder for the website?

I get the same problem. I even create an account with the same info for every field. username = password = question = answer = '1234'. when I look at the table. the hasd value for password and answer is the same. when I click on the forget password, it ask me to verify the question and answer it does verify. can't figure out what is wrong.
what do you mean by "virtual path", can you show me the steps. thanks.

Hmm...I never actually tried this exact version after I created to VB. I actually Overrode and Overloaded many of the functions and implemented my own DB Schema and Encryption, but much of the functionality stayed the same and I didn't have any trouble logging in.

Thanks for saving me some time here. This seems to work well, but one problem I had was with the website admin tool. It gives some error when I try to use the link to test the provider. It says something about not being able to connect to the database. Fortunately though, it can connect to the database and all other operations (i.e. managing users and roles) seem to go quite well.

I've got the same error here. Tried to alter the connectionstring and to add the used connectionstring to the machine.config. That unfortunately did not do the job.
Has anyone had this same problem and solved it?
Thanks in advance!

In MySQL the character to use to specifically identify a table name is `
For these tables, it is unnecessary to use the single quotes around the names.
This is the new code below...
CREATE TABLE Roles
(
Rolename varchar (255) NOT NULL,
ApplicationName varchar (255) NOT NULL
);
CREATE TABLE UsersInRoles
(
Username varchar (255) NOT NULL,
Rolename varchar (255) NOT NULL,
ApplicationName varchar (255) NOT NULL
);
ALTER TABLE UsersInRoles ADD INDEX (Username, Rolename, ApplicationName) ;
ALTER TABLE Roles ADD INDEX (Rolename, ApplicationName) ;
CREATE TABLE Users (
PKID varchar(36) NOT NULL default '',
Username varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
ApplicationName varchar(100) NOT NULL default '' ,
Email varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`Comment` varchar(255) default NULL,
`Password` varchar(128) NOT NULL default '',
PasswordQuestion varchar(255) default NULL,
PasswordAnswer varchar(255) default NULL,
IsApproved tinyint(1) default NULL,
LastActivityDate datetime default NULL,
LastLoginDate datetime default NULL,
LastPasswordChangedDate datetime default NULL,
CreationDate datetime default NULL,
IsOnLine tinyint(1) default NULL,
IsLockedOut tinyint(1) default NULL,
LastLockedOutDate datetime default NULL,
FailedPasswordAttemptCount int(11) default NULL,
FailedPasswordAttemptWindowStart datetime default NULL,
FailedPasswordAnswerAttemptCount int(11) default NULL,
FailedPasswordAnswerAttemptWindowStart datetime default NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (`PKID`)
);

The single quotes are really only necessary around table names that are also Reserved Words (such as Password).

I apologize for breaking the link! Didn't realize I had. The files should be back up and working again. I had inadvertantly removed them so I had to reconvert hte code and the SQL, let me know if you find any errors. The link above now works again.

Have you tested the password recovery control with you code? This code causes an unhandled MembershipPasswordException that the passwordRecovery control doesn't catch. I've been investigating how to solve, but to no avail.
To recreate just plop a PasswordRecovery control and enter a username on first view, then enter a wrong answer and it will give an error.
Any help would be appreciated.

Disregard the prior post. I was running the website in debug mode and the debugger caught the exception before the passwordrecovery control did, so when you run it in release, the control acts normally.
