It's not worth the effort.
I tried "windows 10 is just garbage" and had to choose between sixteen million similar complaints.

Today we are excited to make preview builds from the Microsoft Edge Canary channel available on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. Because it’s so hard to find a good browser for those platforms?
I’m betting it works like other browsers.
Except where Google kneecaps it.

Hurray, more software I won't use.

I wonder why they didn't release it for Win10 as well...

They did a few months ago. This is them expanding it to the versions of Windows they're getting close to killing off entirely.

Who in their right mind would want it?
Mind you "who in their right mind" is becoming my mantra, now, because the place I'm contracting to has edge as the default, and none of the good browsers are available to install.
- "Who in their right mind would make a browser without a status bar?"
- "Who in their right mind would make a browser that you can't drop HTML files onto?"
Etc. All day long. Every day.

But there a dozens of other browsers!
I've yet to find one as ridiculously badly thought-out as edge.
I won't use chrome, and I don't like FF, but I do like PaleMoon, which is a fork of FF (that works much better, IMO).
Send her here[^], and tell her to try some out until she finds one she actually likes, rather than just use a bad one because she doesn't like the main alternatives.

They are excited to release something for OSs they no longer support?
All righty then.

There will probably be a fork to allow people to continue running linux on ancient hardware. Nobody in the linux communtiy is worried. (Other major distros have also made the same announcement.)

Damnit!
Now I'll have to spend hours in the basement, digging through the piles of old kit, to find a 386 machine (I'm sure I upgraded one of the 286 IBM PS/2s to 386), just so that I can bitch about it!

It's been two years since Adobe announced it would finally kill off its Flash Player; browser makers plan to follow suit on their own timelines. Na na NA NA. Na na NA NA. Hey, hey, hey...

Shockwave Flash was actually an amazing piece of kit.
I'll never forget finding an origami site that used Flash to show all the folds -- it was absolutely perfect for the job!
Let's see you do that with HTML5, without blood streaming from your eyes by the time you've finished setting it up.

It's true it was way ahead of its time, and great for some uses. It's just that it needed to be patched on every weekday ending in a 'y'.
And way too many people used it for very wrong uses.

It needed to be patched hourly, but they settled on daily.

I think the bigger problem was that adobe discovered that they wouldn't get away with charging $1,000 for it, like they do with their other bloatware, so they only assigned unpaid interns to work on it.

I wonder how adobe convinced MFSFT to embed it in the windows .. they should charge adobe for all the bandwith they waste pushing security update to this POS
