What you want isn't supported by the VS6 IDE. You can do this in VB.NET, not VB6.

I have one MDI parent... Under that MDIParent one MDI Child is opened in maximized state. Now when I open another form ( Second MDI Child). it has to open in normal state (not maximized) but it opens maximized no matter what ever is the border style.
....means both forms works in the same state.. maximize one and other get
automatically maximized and bring one in normal state the other will follows.... Any solution ?????
Thanks in advance.

No, there is no way around this. This is how Windows Child windows work.

Is there a way to send a message like MouseDown or Click to the parent of a control? All I know is the name of the control. I don't have the hWnd.
Thanks,

I was wondering if it is possible to use a config file in VB .NET to be used to access a database. I know there is a way in C++, but I'm not sure about VB .NET. If anyone knows how to do this, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi All,
I have populated my DataGrid1 from the dataTable.
When I select the record and hit the 'DEL' key it removes the record from the grid.
I would like to prompt the user on 'DEL' keypress and then remove the row from the grid.
Is this possible.
Tnx

Should be easy enough. Handle the DataGrid KeyPress event. When the event fires, you're code show put up a modal dialog box (.ShowDialog()) asking if it's OK or not. If it is OK, set the eventargs parameter to False before your handler exits, otherwise set it to True to stop the keypress from reaching the DataGrid control and having it delete the record.

I have a label where data is outputed into it. I want to know how you are able to print that data out or send it to the printer when like a user clicks on a button called "print".
thanks

Patience! Since we all answer questions on a part time basis, and don't get paid to do so, just screaming for our free time...
Now, you've given a vague description of what you want to accomplish, and it would appear that you haven't written any code to try this out yourself. All we can do is suggest that you read up on printing to see what methods are going to fit your needs.
Start with Windows Forms Print Support[^]. This should give to a good start on how to implement printing in your code.
BTW: The fastest answers come from your own research. Not sitting on a board waiting for someone else to do it for you.

Man you're being rude. First i have done alot of research, secondly i have tried out different ways, I tried Printdocument, PrintDialog in the windows forms, but i keep getting an exception error! My question was very specific, i wanted to only print out a label in a FORM as data is outputted into it not the whole form.
P.S. i am not holding a gun to your head forcing u to give me an answer. Its all voluntary, you don't have to reply.
thx for the reply anyway.

Rude is posting the same question day after day until someone answers you...
What's the exception you're getting and what does the code that's doing your printing look like?

You know, I tell my 4 year old niece "I want's never get" when she uses this phrase. I would say your post was a great deal more rude than the response you accused of the same.

Hi...
where can i change the properti, to set data report to landscape style..??
thx,
:::Widhie:::
|

You don't, there is no such property on the DataReport object. If you want to print Landscape, you'll have to change the ReportWidth of the DataReport object and handle the landscape conversion when you setup your print job.

What? This doesn't make any sense. The MDIClient area is essentially a control on the MDI Parent form. Are you trying to get the control or the dimensions of the Parent form client area? Explain exactly what is on your form and what you want to get at.

One word man: Google
Try this[^] for some results
What your asking has nothing to do with VB/VB.NET.

I've been able to log on to ftp server but i am not able to get the list of files on FTP server.
|
|
|
|

Well, you've given us just about no information to help you with. What does your code look like? Are you using any 3rd party components to handle the FTP connection? Or are you using your own FTP handler that your writing? ...
Normally, the command you send to the FTP server is either going to be "ls" or "dir". LS will give you the list of files and DIR will give you the same list with date/time, directory or file size. You'll have to parse this up yourself to get the information you need.

As an excercise in regex, I'm trying to parse various elements of VB Source, so please don't recommend I buy Programmar, or some such tool, coz I won't learn anything. I also have Expresso.
OK, I am trying to capture code in a namespace, even if there are nested namespaces, so given the text of...
Namespace First
Enum FirstEnum
MyVal
End Enum
Namespace Second
Enum SecondEnum
MyVal
End Namespace
End Namespace
I would expect to be able to get the outer namespace as one capture and the inner namespace as a second capture.
Any straightforward pasting of a regex which works, rather than splinters of things you think might work, would be really appreciated. Explanations of how they work would be a bonus, but expresso's analyzer will help me understand to some extent.
Thanks guys and have a great XMAS.
