Hi, I have one PC which install windows 98 and windows 2000. I found that Microsoft Virtual PC could run both operating system at the same time. My question is, could use this two OS at the same time to share the file and resource with each other??? I have only machine and want to learn networking but I have only one PC.

Definitely. There are several ways to do this. When using a supported guest OS this easiest possibility to share data between the host and the guest OS is to use the Virtual PC Additions[^].

Yes, you can do this with Virtual PC and that's also the possibility I prefer for sharing data between (non-)virtual machines. You can even decide if the traffic on the virtual network should be bridged to the physical network and is also possible connect a virtual machine to the physical network using NAT. So far I've used Virtual PCs for OS tests (including test networks with three concurrent virtual machines) and testing of setup packages. However, depending on how many virtual machines you'd like to run at once you will need a fast CPU and even more important lots 'o RAM!

Thank you very much for your comment, I will try all of my test to do it. If it is possible as you said, then I don't need to purchase another PC.

Hi, I have one PC which 2 partition of hard disk drive. The C: drive I used to install operating system and other application. And on the D: drive, I used to store document. The my document folder on my computer is pointed to drive D: . I do this to prevent lost of data in the future. But, my e-mail in outlook express is store on C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\<OE Account Code>\Microsoft\Outlook Express folder. So when I want to back up my e-mail, I have to copy this folder to drive D: . So, what I want from here is make the default message store of outlook express to drive. So I don't need to copy manually. Could any one tell me how to do that???

In Outlook Express, open Tools/Options. Select the Maintenance tab, then click the Store Folder... button. This allows you to set the default storage folder to another location.

Thank you very much for your comment, I found this option too in OE but I don't dare to change it. Because I afraid of lossing the message. Now I will start to test this option with the testing e-mail account!!!

Here's something you can try... Copy all of the .dbx files you have, except the one called Folders.dbx, to the new location. Then change the option. Outlook Express will then recreate the Folders.dbx file to include everything in the destination folder. If that works, you can delete all the old message files from their original location. If not, you still have them and can try something else.

how to I prepare a .lib file and add to the library under linux?
Thanks

Linux doesn't use .lib files. Are you trying to build a library for Windows under Linux? It should be possible, but you need to build a cross-compiler toolchain

Hi, I have windows 98 install on my PC at home. During the time that I leave to work at the office, some people at my home come to check the computer. Sometime it error because of some mistake from the user. I want to control my PC that run windows 98 about the time that the computer turn on, or turn off, which program that user open, or did the user make change to any system file. It is not necessary to know what did they typing (because this relate to the personal provicy). So what I want is just the ability to control the system. Is windows 98 have the ability to do this or I need to use any third party software to do that???

Hi,
I have setup the Apache web server on my Windows XP machine to run Bugzilla. On my Netgear router I configured port forwarding to forward incoming http traffic on port 80 to the machine running Apache. The problem is that I can access my Bugzilla through Apache from inside of the LAN, but I cannot get there from outside when I enter my WAN address. The router is also listening on port 80 for its web-based configurator. How do you disable the Netgear router from listening on port 80 so that web traffic can hit my server?
Thanks,
Andy Moore

I have a Netgear router and was running a web server (not Apache but a similiar free one). I had a similiar problem and found that my ISP was blocking port 80 for security reasons. I changed from port 80 to another port and it worked.

Thanks Steve. I will give this a go on another port.

Hi...
I need to add disk space to a 2003 server which is used to serve exchange 2003 on. The c: disk almostly full and there is another disk d: has 16 GB free space. How can I use the disk space on d: or move some exchange mailbox on d: disk.

It's strongly recommended that you don't keep Exchange databases on the same disk as, well, anything else really. You'll get pretty poor performance. If we're talking IDE drives, ensure the physical disks are on different channels - access to one drive on a channel blocks the other until the operation is complete.
You cannot move a single mailbox. You can only move a whole database. It's recommended to put the transaction logs on a different drive from the databases, but if you've only got a single drive it's better to get them off the system drive.
Exchange uses Storage Groups. A single Storage Group can hold up to 5 databases (which can be on different drives) and has a single set of transaction logs. Standard Edition can only have one mailbox store database while Enterprise Edition can have up to the limit (currently 20, 5 in each storage group).
To move the database(s), follow the instructions in KB 821915[^].
I'd recommend you get some training in Exchange. It's a complicated product.
Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

Before I take this message I create a new storage group and named it 'Second Storage Group' on the second disk. After that I move some mailbox to second storage group from first storage group. As now everyting goes normall (user could send and receive mail), but it slow down. I need to read more on the exchange server

You can create an empty folder and mount a formatted drive to this folder. Then read the recommendation from Mike posted.

Hi, I have test the roaming profile in windows 2000. I have create 3 user.
User1
User2
User3
All users are logged from the client, then the profile folder is created on the server. I'm an admin of the server try to check the foder profile but it access denied. So I try to take ownership of User2 profile. After that I log User2 on the other client but it inform me that incorrect security setting on the server. When I ask my teacher he told me that the problem occure because User2 is not the owner of the folder any more. But he did not told me the solution to fix the problem. My questions are:
1. How could the administrator can see all the folder content of the users and user can log on any client after an administrator take ownership of his/her folder.
2. After the message box display of incorrect security setting, it count down and inform the user to log on as local profile. But I don't want to do that, if there are any problem while log on, then I want it to be log off again. Because I don't want my user to work with local profile. Is it possible to do that?
Please let me, any support or idea is really appreciate

Hello,
I have a PowerEdge 1750 and every time I connect to it using RDP I get an error message "mstsc.exe has generated errors" or something like that when I open IE, then I get kicked out...
I also sometimes get an error message about couldn't write to memory, also caused by mstsc.exe.
I've tried reinstalling the OS a few times, downloaded all the Windows updates and Dell firmware updates, tried different sticks of memory, and no luck.

./filename
Or add the current directory to your PATH (the all caps is important). I'd tell you how, but I don't use knoppix but I'm pretty sure that it uses bash as the shell while I know and use csh. (the difference should come off as religious)
