Can anybody explain the reason for getting this error.

The application fails when it tries to update a row in table. The table has a column of type text.

Im making an access db, that is accessed through my VB 6.0 software.
How would a clever way be to store this array in my database without making 500 rows in the table for it.
Its 500 double values from a testsystem, that is used to draw a curve.

Hi all,
I intend to use the Firebird database engine as the embedded
database engine of our desktop window application written in C#.
Have anyone used it before and is it good enough ? How is it compared
to the Microsoft MSDE data engine in performance, in ease of installation, maintainability....etc.. ?

hi all,
Jsut a quick question, I have a product database with a productcost field, when i enter a cost into the field i use for exemple £100 or £0.50. When I run my website in asp.net it shows a dollar sign $ instead of a pound sign.
Any ideas on how to correct this?
I have checked the help files in SQL server 2000 and also in visual studio.net...cant find anything related....its gotta be something easy??

Is your website hosted in the same machne where you edit the database?
If not, your machine probably is configured (in Control Panel, Regional settings) to format the currency values like British (pounds). And probably the ASP.NET server is configured for an english-US culture.
Do something like this in your ASP.NET code:
CultureInfo ci = new CultureInfo("en-br");
decimal dMyMoney = 12.99m;
string strMoneyInPounds = dMyMoney.ToString("c", ci);I'm not exactly sure of the syntax, but that should format your decimal value as currency (the "c" parameter) using the English (UK variant) culture.

I've saved an image (converting in byte[]) inside a field of my database, now i would read the database getting these bytes[] and convertering into the original image...
I use this code:
OleDbDataReader myReader;
....
.. instance myReader here...
....
myCommand.ExecuteReader();
MemoryStream myStream;
int buffersize = 300000; // doubt n°2 = but if my image is bigger of 300000 ???
Byte[] outbyte = new Byte[299999];
myStream = new MemoryStream(outbyte, 0, 300000, true);
myReader.GetBytes(5, 0, outbyte, 0, buffersize);
myStream.Flush(); // am i just deleting all bytes unused?
pictureBox1.Image = Image.FromStream(myStream);
myStream.Close();
but this code doesn't work, where do i wrong?

I've tried to change the code in this way:
MemoryStream myStream;
Byte[] outbyte = (Byte[])myReader["Image"];
myStream = new MemoryStream(outbyte);
pictureBox1.Image = Image.FromStream(myStream);
myStream.Close();
but this doesn't work too.

Yes i did, but when i use (Byte[])cmd.ExexuteScalar() i get only 18 byte at the place of 17322 that is my image, why?

I'm having much problems working with my .mdb database.
Yes there are objects in VISUAL STUDIO (c#) .NET that make easyer the work but i would to write all it needs by code.
What i've to do for the moment is add a row to my database with 4 columns of which one is byte conteiner (image bitmap).
Ok i've tryied much code from google c-charpcorner codeproject msdn end so on... but all that give me some error, the forums user told me to set insertcomand updatecomand fill fillschema set a primarykey but all half informations i can't manage...
Please someone can show me a full code to connect to a simple database .mdb with a Table and insert just a row inside?
This is the schema:

I'm using ASP .NET with MS SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition. They work well in Windows XP SP 1, but when I set up Window XP SP2, an error occurs:

Then I thought it is an trouble with the MS SQL Server, so I reinstalled MS SQL Server several times, but this error still occurs. Please help me!!!

I use SQL Server personal edition SP3
In the Event log..SQL servee adds many events for the all databases like this :
3455 :Analysis of database 'DATABASENAME' (DATABASEID) is 100% complete (approximately 0 more seconds)
an event record is added about 20 times for each database and i realize that the overall performance of the server degrades.
How to prevent SQL Server from making this analysis too frequently ?

Here's a good question for all you SQL gurus here in CP.
I have a Customers table with PK ID_customer and other customer information such as name, birth date, etc.
I have an Addresses table which contains all the information for an address, such as street, exterior number and so on. The primary key is ID_address, and contains ID_customer field for relating it to the customer. This table contains a foreign key ID_city. Each address has a date indicating since when it is valid (one starting 1/1/2000 and another from 1/1/2001 for example.)
My Cities table contains a PK ID_city for each of the cities that are allowed in an address, and another field CityName.
So, I developed a stored procedure to find all the records matching certain criteria (all fields in the Customer table) using IF NOT @param = NULL to check the different criteria (I can search by name or by customer ID, for example) and performing a SELECT query.
My problem is that this SELECT query must return only one record for each customer matching, and that record must contain the CityName for the latest address for that customer (or blank if no address registerd). I can do the JOIN, and with a GROUP BY but it returns one record for each different city each customer has.
So, any ideas?

The software is for a door-to-door credit company, so it's necessary to keep a history of all the addresses where the customer has lived.
At one point one customer has one address (his house) but when (and if) he moves, you'll need to save the new address (with a more recent lives-here-since date.) It's not that he'll move to another city, but sometimes big cities are made of a few (or many) counties together, and although it's the same metropolitan area, legally they are different counties.
So, I need to get the county (or city) of the latest address for each customer that meets my search criteria.
An example:

It'd be great if SQL Server had a MAX_OF function, where you could ask for the value of one column where another column had the maximum value in a group. Sadly, it doesn't.
My workaround looks like this:
SELECT C.ID_customer, C.Name, Cities.Name AS City
FROM
Customers C
INNER JOIN
Addresses A ON C.ID_customer = A.ID_customer
INNER JOIN
(
SELECT ID_customer, MAX(LivesHereSince) AS LastMove
FROM Addresses
GROUP BY ID_customer
) A2
ON A.ID_customer = A2.ID_customer AND A.LivesHereSince = A2.LastMove
INNER JOIN
Cities ON A.City = Cities.ID_cityI join Addresses onto a subquery of itself. The inner subquery tells me, for each customer, the largest (most recent) value of LivesHereSince. To extract the other fields of that row, I join back onto Addresses using that value as a key.
This technique works quite well as long as you have unique values in your search column. If that doesn't hold you'll get duplicate values. You might consider denormalizing your database slightly and keeping a CurrentAddress column in the Customers table. You can use a trigger to keep that column up-to-date.
