Hi, I have the servers i need to make this game, so dont think im trying to hard for a beginner, but im wondering could anyone give me a full, easy tutorial to follow on awesome grapic design. As long as its not too complicated and is awesome, AWESOME graphics, not just some flash game, better than runescape and final fantasy 11 online(because we have better programs than the ones used in those games, we just need coding and know how to make our own engine.) so PLEASE help me and my like 15 other friends, i BEG of you.

Hey,
I have forgotten alot of MFC programming
I have a dialog based app with a browse for folder button which outputs the folder path as szFolder. All is good there but I want to then be able to view what is in that folder in a list control. Problem is I have forgotten how. Its a report style ListControl in which I also would like to get the file size of. That isn't really a priority right now but listing all the files of the directory in the ListControl m_mp3list is my main question.
If anyone can help, I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks
Ashley

Hi, I'm trying to communicate with a device via COM1, I've done it before(a few years ago) but now that I have very little time to do that I encounter many problems. first I'm using createfile and readfile in overlapped mode in an exclusive thread, because received data needs to be processed in the main thread. communication speed is about 100-200 bytes/sec, I've used getcomm and setcomm to setup com1 in 9600bps.
first problem(minor): because an interpreter reads data
and looks for a sync frame. when i first run my prog it can't find the frame but when I check the received data first with a binary termial to make sure that received data is ok(I set binary terminal to 9600bps) and after that I run the prog the prog works ok, so I think there is a problem with my DCB structure so that COM1 is not in the appropriate mode when I first run the prog. I think I can solve this soon but the major problem that really makes life difficult for me is this:
second problem(major): there is a problem with the thread so when I want to debug the prog and set break points SOMETIMES the whole system(win XP)hangs and I have to restart computer( that's why I couldn't solve first problem yet).
this sometimes deponds on where i've set the break point, when I terminate the thread before breakpoint everything is ok. I start thread with AfxBeginThread and I don't set priority so it is supposed to have the same priority level as the calling process( that shouldn't be a problem). I close handles and terminate the thread before exiting but the problem shouldn't be that handle leakage or something like that because when I restart and run the prog first time problem persists. any suggestion or recommandation is highly appreciated. thanks

You can find many articles in Code Project with serial communication libraries, you could simply use one of them.
Regarding the second problem, do not enable breakpoints in the thread before it is started. In that case the system doesn't hang, it just takes the debugger an awful long time to start.

you should check out the SetWindowsHookEx[^] function which is supported on WinNT, 2000 and XP.
This will let you set a low-level keyboard hook.
There is an article[^] on MSDN which describes the use of a low-level hook.
Enjoy!

Hi all,
Inside a View class (CChildView), I call CDialog. The Dialog pops up. Now, how can I talk to the CChildView while the Dialog still shows?
Say CChildView display a bitmap; in my dialog, I change the zoom parameter to 2x, I want the image to reflex the change immediately in the CChildView.
Thank you in advance,

What about defining an user message (WM_APP + something) and post it/ send it from the dialog to the view?

Do I define WM_APP message in View and from Dialog I do: this->SendMessage(WM_DO_STUFF,0,0)?
I did that, but it didn't work out.
Thanks

* Is your dialog modal or modeless?
* Try to use PostMessage instead of SendMessage
you should have in <myapplication.h>:
#define WM_DO_STUFF WM_APP+1
In <myview.h>
<br />
BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(CMyView, CView)<br />
[...].br />
afx_msg LRESULT OnDoStuff(WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam);<br />
END_MESSAGE_MAP()<br />
In <myview.cpp>
<br />
BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(CMyView, CView)<br />
[...].br />
ON_MESSAGE(WM_DO_STUFF, OnDoStuff)<br />
END_MESSAGE_MAP()<br />
<br />
LRESULT CMyView::OnDoStuff(WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam)<br />
{<br />
return 0L;<br />
}<br />
in <mydialog.cpp> (CMyDialog must know about the view)
<br />
void CMyDialog::OnActionButton()<br />
{<br />
ASSERT(m_pMyView);<br />
m_pMyView->PostMessage(WM_DO_STUFF);<br />
}<br />

Thank you K,
I finally passed a pointer of MyView to Dialog and access functions in MyView such as Invalidate and other member functions through this pointer.
Thanks,

Hi K,
I finally passed a MyView pointer to CDialog through constructor. Thus, I can access MyView member functions from CDialog. However, when I clicked OK on the Dialog, the program crashed. My guess is that I don't know how to delete the *pView that I passed to Dialog. I delete it in the contructor Dialog destructor). Any thought?
By the way, it is a Modal dialog.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have 2 win2003 servers which are in different domain say domain1 and domain2. The domains are under a forest with proper trust relationships established. I need to access registry of server in domain2 from an application on machine in domain1. I have set appropriate access permissions and allowed paths as mentioned below.
1. domain2 server - HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg\AllowedPaths - contains registry key to be allowed access
2. domain2 server - Granted full permissions to everyone to actual registry key
With this I am not able to connect to remote registry using "RegConnectRegistry" API. Is cross domain registry access allowed in windows? If so what additional settings needs to be done?
Thanks
JA
