I've developed an application that manages Multicast UDP messages using Winsock sockets.
Now I've to use Winsock2 instead of Winsock.
I've changed the include file but the following code
doesn't compile:
ip_mreq l_IpMulticastReq;
l_IpMulticastReq.imr_multiaddr.s_addr = l_pScktReceiver->m_dwMulticastRxAddress;
l_IpMulticastReq.imr_interface.s_addr = INADDR_ANY;
l_iRetVal = setsockopt(l_pScktReceiver->m_scktReceiver,
IPPROTO_IP,
IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP,
(char*)&l_IpMulticastReq,
sizeof(ip_mreq));
How can I join a multicast gruop using Winsock2 functions ???
Thanks a lot.

I find some difficulty with ASSERT macro. I know the use of ASSERT, but what should i do to change (redefine) the functionality of ASSERT macro. c below
//file1.cpp
#include "file1.h"
void MyFunc()
{
//...
ASSERT(MyExpr);
//...
}
//EOF
//===============
//file2.cpp
#include "file1.h"
#include "file2.h"
void MyFoo()
{
//...
MyFunc();
//...
}
In this context if the MyExpr in ASSERT of file1.cpp does not evaluate to true the program crashes with Abrot retry cancel option .
But i want to change this behaviour like writing the error value into a file and exit properly.
BUT I SHOULD NOT TOUCH THE FILE1.CPP. I should do the change in file2.cpp or file2.h such that it changes the functionality of ASSERT with out banging. I WANT TO BE IN DEBUG MODE ALSO.:->

Are you talking about redefining the ASSERT() macro to do something else?

Ya u are right David . I want to change ASSERT
i did
#ifdef ASSERT
#undef ASSERT
#define ASSERT(x) blah blah..
#endif
But deos not work Y

Make sure you are redefining the macro after all of the MFC-related header files have been included. You can also compile with the /P option to see how the preprocessor expanded the macro.

Your only option (I think) of actually changing the ASSERT functionality without editing the other file would be to get the address of _CrtDebugBreak or whatever presents the A/R/I dialog box, and then somehow emit your own code there. Extremely bad idea if you ask me.
A far better solution would be to copy the function you're not supposed to touch, rename it and make a few changes here and there.

Hi
After making some changes in my code I cannot get back to "Design" modus in my VC++ project. (because of problems with the GetObject function I have to un- define and then -re define it during some other fuction calls)
I get an error message saying:
"An error occurred while loading the document.Fix the error, and then try loading the document again. The error message follows:<br />
MCppCodeDomParser Error Line 98, Column 4---unexpected token for a `term´
I can compile and run the application, but I cannot make any changes in the GUI using the visual interface.
Is there a way to "fix the error" as the errormessage suggests?

I'd like to set auto power-up time and date which will turn-on computer on desired time. Is there some way how to do this programatically instead of manual settings in the BIOS ?
Thank you !

Hi all. I want to create a subwindow in a window, any idea how to do it?

Your question is difficult - need more detail. Do you have an HWND or a CWnd as your parent?

thnx for your concern. I have an MDI application which shows some opengl scenes. From the mainframe, i have several views from the menu. What i wanted was when i click an option from the menu, a different view appears but which need not necessarily show opengl scenes. maybe some blank window with some text in it. (data used comes from the previous opengl scene). Now since i am not able to do this, i am planning to use a subwindow which appears in the mainwindow. Ie a blank window (small one at top corner of screen)?? Any suggestion....

Given that everything in Windows is a window in some form or another, your question is a bit vague. What exactly is it that you are wanting to do?

What is it that you are unable to do? Having more than one view per document is a relatively painless process. For an example, see MSDN article Q99562. Also, see the "Multiple views" section of this article.

Hi,
I have created a service in C# which spawns four child processes for some specific purpose. However if the child process crashes bcoz of some reason then I need to create a new instance of the child process.
I am able to do this in C# as there are events triggered when an application shuts down.
Now for some reason I want to port the service to VC++. I want to implement the restarting feature in the service. Does any body have any idea about the same?
Regards,
Nitin Gautam.

Crashes as in GONE or crahses as in STUCK.
If you retain the four process handles for the four programs you started, they will be signaled when the application is 'no longer a process' but you have no idea if they are HUNG.
If I start a child process and want to know when it is gone, I just wait/watch for the child process' handle to be signaled.
