If all you want is prevent users from altering the text, you can try using the ReadOnly property. That doesn't change the background color.
If that's not possible, you can derive your class from RichTextBox, override Paint and set the background color there.

I am seeing errors while trying to generate unit tests in visual studio 2005 (whidbey) for classes involving generics. Is there a known problem with the internal unit test framework that is shipped with Beta Refresh 1 of vs 2005?
Errors I noticed:
1. It does not generate appropriate generic classes for Accessors. The "<T>" is missing.
2. Adding the "<T>" manually allows me to build but does not allow me to run the test and gives this error: Illegal use of attribute on NameSpaceName.GenericClassName`1.CountTest. The TestMethodAttribute can be defined only inside a class marked with the TestClass attribute.
The TestClass attribute is defined for the class but we had to manually add "<T>" at the end to remove build errors.
Anybody faced this before and got a workaround?
Thanks

hi,
I have doubt regarding primitive datatypes in .NET.I studied that int, short, bool are primitive types. And one more thing i knew is every thing in .NET is classes & Objects.
So how these primitive types exists. Is there any primitive types in .NET or not.
I will be very happy if any body gives detail explanation for this.
Thanks & Regards,
Naveen.

Hi,
In .Net primitive types are indentified through keywords like Byte, int. These are the aliases from the Types that are defined in System namespace.
Thanks

.NET does have primitive data types like int, short, long, float, double, char, bool, string... All primitive data types, except string, are value types (structs).

I would say that .net doesn't have any primitive types but the languages can have. I come to this conclusion as in the Visual Basic specification(point 7.3) stands:
"The primitive types are identified through keywords, which are aliases for predefined types in the System namespace."
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vbls7/html/vblrfvbspec6_2.asp
So for the framework there are no primitive types just value types and reference types but for languages there can exists primitive types.

Hello everyone,
I found an articles in msdn which is "Receiving SMS Messages Inside a Managed Application". I download the sample code and run it.This project contains two separte projects "mapirule" and "CaptureSMS". Mapirule was implemented by using embedded Visual C++ 4.0 and CaptureSMS contains managed code only which was implemented by using Visual Studio.NET 2003
When I built mapirule.dll in embedded C++4.0, the error "download file failed" occurred. When I tested the sample code on an emulator and clicked Start IMailRuleClient". Error message "The function is not defined" ("registerServer function). This function is defined in mapirule. How come mapirull.dll can't be loaded? Is there anyone who can give me any suggestion. It's urgent. Thank you veryyyy much.

Hallo
Is it possible to create an own CompareInfo Class? I am only aware that I can get a CompareInfo via getCompareInfo from an existing CultureInfo Class.
I need a compareInfo which works simular to "th-TH". I need vowel , consonant swaping. And I need multi character consonants.
I know this can be done in Java. But how to inherit this in .Net. I am only interested in compare and sort functionality.
Can anybody help? The language I need is Laotian (quite simular with the Thai language, but with another Unicode range)
How can I add values to the sort keys I guess I need an inherited class. Or can I overwrite the Thai settings, just changing the Thai character to Laotian
Thank you
Sincerely
Chris

Hi,
I have an XmlDoc which I would like to wrap in a SoapEnvelope then send it to a web service.
I'm using a policy to enforce security on a soap message. the policy enforces that the message is signed with an X509 certificate, however, I'd like to add a usernameToken as well. If use webProxy.RequestSoapContext the UserNameToken is added to the message, however, if I create my own soapEnvelope and try to add the UsernameToken to it, the usernameToken is not added to the message or maybe the envelope is not actually sent to the webservice.
How to send a custom created SoapEnvelope- including (singed certificate and usernameToken) considering the policy exists?
Thanks
J.

I am now working on my dissertation. My teacher give me the project.
It is "use .net to implement Internet message platform(it includes 5 titles,"use UML to build message platform","implement the client" ,"implement the Server","log in and users management","test"),I choose "implement the client",my teacher wrote them in chinese,I just translated them to english, maybe some words are not very exact.I will explain. My teacher said the knowledge of UML and .Net would help.
So can somebody tell me what is "internet message platform" and lead me to a right direction. Many many thanks here first.

This is not a good place to ask, no-one reads it Try the C# forum in future, I reckon.
internet message platform == MSN Messenger, ICQ, etc. It's a program that allows people in remote places to use the internet to type messages to each other in real time.

The VS IDE Installer provides a very limited set of tools to author Windows Installer packages. To create more advanced customized setups you either need an authoring tool like InstallShield or you will haved to manually author the MSI yourself. Microsoft provides an SDK and tools that allow you to manually author MSI packages, but it is very difficult and time consuming.
You can download the SDK here:
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/default.htm?p=/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/SDKInfo.htm[^]
Beyond that, you will just have to study the SDK documentation. There is no simple answer to your questions other than no, there is no other way to author MSI packages available in VS.NET.

Inside the MBR object, you can try
ILease lease = (ILease)InitializeLifetimeServices();
lease.InitialLeaseTime = TimeSpan.zero;

I'm looking for a tutorial on how to dock forms within other forms.
Example.
Menu > Tools > Enable Form1
The form then appears, within the current form.
I hope I'm being clear. Thanks.

Hi,
The following link has some information about docking.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vbcon/html/vbtskDockingControl.asp
But i guess you can solve your problem by creating an MDI application.
Thanks

I am very confused by .NET ASPX page processing model. I am using C# and creating simple database data dependant dynamic form with bunch of generated buttons.
After that I am catching server side processed standard onclick events on these buttons and in onclick event function creating some other dynamic elements such as textboxes and other buttons.
When I am pressing on new one created buttons generated outside page_load function - page reloads and these elements (of course) is lost! Now I am using some sick mytype in Session wich holds my dynamic cotrols and restores them by page_load. I suppose this is not the recommended way to do things (but for now) it works very well, maybe there is some logic and normal way to hold dynamically created elements in page. And I am wandering why .NET guys destroys page instance on each event?
