You might want to post this question in the Embedded/Mobile Forum. Unless they using a common assembly you've written, there's no reason for this unless there is something platform specific that's causing it.

We have created a windows application using Visual Studio.Net 2002.
1. How can we force it to use .Net 1.1 ?
2. We modified the <requiredruntime> element in the app.config file but doesn't seem to help.
|
|
|
|
|
You can't. An app compiled on .NET 1.0 will only target the 1.0 Framework. A .NET 1.1 app can target either, so long as it doesn't use any functionality specific to .NET 1.1.

I think he's saying he wants to hack his VS2002 IDE to use the 1.1 framework when it compiles.

Hello,
Can anyone give me a sample code on how I could use the @@Error or any OUTPUT @param I have defined to fire off a msgbox based on its value?
Basically, when an insert or update happens, I'd like the user to know whether it was successful or it failed.
thx a lot

Hi, I'm working in VB.Net (2003) and have two Web Browser controls on a form. WebBrowser1 I point to a page with a list of links via
WebBrowser1.Navigate(urloflinks)
While WebBrowser1.Busy
Application.DoEvents()
End While
Then, using the DOM I pick out the links of interest, and navigate to them in the second browser like so:
For each lnk in WebBrowser1.Links
WebBrowser2.Navigate(lnk.href)
While WebBrowser2.Busy
Application.DoEvents()
End While
...Grab elements of interest here...
Next
This ALMOST works. The lnk.href contains the expected links, it cycles through the 30 or so that are on the page. But the Navigate only works to the first URL I point it to. The "Grab elements" grabs the elements from the first href each time. So I get 30 copies of the content of the first link's target.
How do I convince WebBrowser2 to move on to the new URL?

Hello all,
I am really struggling to create a drawing tool that is semi-transparent in visual basic 6. I want to create a sort of highlighting effect on top of another image.
So imagine a picture with text and graphics. I want to be able to select a yellow pen and draw over the image, but i need to be able to see through the pen. I want to create a sort of highlighter effect?
can anyone help?

Hello,
[EDIT]Sorry about this, I thought it was in VB .Net and not VB6 . My answer is for VB .Net[/EDIT]
You will need to use Color.FromArgb .
Here's an example:
Dim pen As Drawing.Pen = New Drawing.Pen(Color.FromArgb(128, Color.Yellow))
I hope this helps,

For some reason, the CurrencyManager will not let me remove the last item in the collection. For example, if I have a CurrencyManager bound to a collection with a Form and Control bound to the CurrencyManager. I can remove any item from the CurrencyManager just fine with RemoveAt. However, if it is the last item , it simply ignores the call. It doesn't throw and error, it simply doesn't do anything. Count remains Same, Position remains 0. Even if I try calling CurrencyManagerVar.List.Clear(),
it ignores the call. Again, no error, just doesn't do anything.
But in my Another form it has worked fine with CurrencyManager.RemoveAt(CurrencyManger.Position)
Any Problem in my code?
My code is :
CurrencyManager.RemoveAt(CurrencyManager.Position)
I have also tried with
Dataview.Delete(CurrencyManager.Position)
And
Dataview.Delete(CurrencyManager.Count-1)
And also with
DatarowView = CurrencyManager.Current
DataTable.Remove(DatarowView.row)
above all are not working

Hello,
I attach a textbox on the form. How can i check a text box for a valid email address. Means if user enters invalid address in a text box e.g (aaaa.com), then it will alert a message.
plz reply.

u can force user to enter valid email
u can force him to enter username(just username) in one textbox and domain(e.g. rediff, yahoo) in another
username (textbox here) @ domain(textbox here)
then u can cancatenate string as
dim str as string=textbox1.text+"@"+textbox2.text
i think this logic will work
all the best
|
|
|
|
|
That's a horrible solution considering it allows for all kinds of invalid characters in the address...
A better solution is to use a Regular Expression to do the validation. There are many examples of this all over the web.

Use a Regular Expression (RegEx class) to evaluate if the address is sytactically correct:
Public Function IsEmail(ByVal emailAddress As String) As Boolean
Dim strRegex As String = "^([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\.]+)@((\[[0-9]{1,3}" & _
@"\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.)|(([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+\" & _
@".)+))([a-zA-Z]{2,4}|[0-9]{1,3})(\]?)$"
Dim re As New Regex(strRegex)
If re.IsMatch(emailAddress)
Return True;
Else
Return False
End Function

How hard is it to tell us what the error message is or to describe what is actually going on? FAR more detail about the problem is required, other than "It's broken." With what you've given us so far, all we can tell you is "It sucks to be you..."
<soapbox>
Can you tell I'm tired of question like these? It seems we're getting a rash of "When I do this, it doesn't work! Help!" WHAT DOESN'T WORK AND HOW? WHAT DOES IT DO/NOT DO? WHAT ARE THE ERROR MESSAGES?

Of course it failed! You really messaged up the connection string.
Dim con As New OldDbConnection("Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=DB1.MDB")
This string, of source, assumes that the DB1.MDB file is in the same directory as the compiled .EXE your writing.

i had already put the databse in the bn folder
and also the error is coming when i am trying to fill the dataset with the table
adap.fill(ds,"table1")
if i remove this line , the code does not give me any exception

Meaningless considering your code would do anything at all without it. Your getting this exception (whatever it is, you've never told us!) because the .Fill statement goes to open the connection to the database and it fails. This is because the connection string is so screwed up. BTW: The Jet Provider doesn't understand "Initial Catalog"! That's for SQL Server providers!
