Where in VC++ 6.0 can I find routines for controlling text and graphics output in console applications, like it was possible in C/C++ versions up to 1.5 using GRAPH.LIB? For example: set cursor position on text screen. Is it an element of Win SDK now?

Hi all.
I'm trying to disable a specified item in a CListCtrl.
I read about a flag called "LVIS_DISABLED", but I couldn't found it in any header file.
Where can I find it. And if it doesn't exist; how can I solve my problem ?
Thanks for everyone...

Oh man, this sounds like a tough one. I can't find LVIS_DISABLED in the MSDN. The only thing I can think of is tagging your invalid data yourself and making it custom drawn so that you can gray out the items with the "disabled" tag. None of the lists have that functionality built in.

Have a look at the custom list control by Hans Dietrich on this site. The item of interest is the OnCustomDraw() method. When items are added to the control, they are internally marked as enabled or disabled. When each item is drawn, a different color is used depending on whether the item is enabled or diabled.

:(hi all
i used hook CBT :
LRESULT CALLBACK CBTProc(
int nCode, // hook code
WPARAM wParam, // depends on hook code
LPARAM lParam // depends on hook code
)
if (ncode==HCBT_SETFOCUS)
{
HWND hedit;
hedit=(HWND)wParam;
POINT cpoint;
GetCaret(cpoint);
DWORD psend=((cpoint.x<<4)&cpoint.y);
SendMessage(hedit,WM_MBUTTONDBLCLK,MK_LBUTTON,psend);
}
but when program run,for example:
i run my program,then run notepad,and press 1 key but there are anything occured.i want to hightlight character when user type in notepad,so i sent WM_MBUTTONDBLCLK to notepad but it didn't work hic hic...after hightlighting character i want to send WM_COPY to copy word or character into clipboard and i can get that words though clipboard...but i didn't really know how to code...
please help me

This could be numerous things. Have you checked your return codes when installing the hook? A common mistake is to not have the hook function inside of a dll. A system wide hook will only work if it's inside a dll.

thank you.i will check my code...but...

I use /Align:256, /Align:128 or even /Align:16 linker options and find that it will produce smaller executables. The last option together with some other linker options like /Merge:.rdata=.text, /Entry, ect. can produce a Hello World program of just 688byte and it works well. But I don't know if these non-standard align options affect the loading time of the executables. Is there anyone can give me a hint? thanks

There is not much difference in loading time for differentt linker aligns. It depeneds basically on the operating system. As long as the align is in a binary column weight, shifting and and-masking are extremely fast to use.

The default alignment is good because it aligns the PE sections on page boundaries, which makes for less work when the OS has to page data/code in from the binary, since VM allocations work on page-sized chunks. So you have a trade-off, smaller binary size versus slower paging.

I have a COM object (DLL) which implements a dynamic simulation of a
system. I want to do an optimization of an algorithm in this system
by varying some parameters. This involves repeatedly calling the
simulation in an optimization loop in Matlab.
The problem I am having is that after invoking the simulation COM
object the first time it stays in memory and so, when called on
subsequent iterations, the initialization of internal static
variables does not happen. So, the simulation does not execute
correctly.
I determined that the DLL stays in memory using Process Explorer from
SysInternals.
The COM object is written in VC++ 6.0.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
Any ideas for a solution?
Is there a way that I can modify my COM object to force it to delete
itself? Perhaps an interface method that I can call from Matlab
which performs this deletion?
Thanks

You are starting to get on my nerves. This is a "MAKE MY HOMEWORK FOR ME" style.... the fourth question on a single day, and all questions because you don't know anything about what you are doing .
Don't try it, just do it!

there's a difference between ignoring something, and ignoring EVERYTHING !!!
we are here to help those how don't know some things, but that also try to find a solution by their own way !!!
another thing :
are you really (as you say in you CP Homepage) a "software consultant about MFC" ???

hum, well, i don't say the opposite, but very often, when i read at your posts, i find them very long and very "diluated".... (like homeworks are )
ok, i'll try to help you anyway (it's my goodness day)
have you seen that an icon file (.ico) has multiple devices ?
in once ico file, you can find a 16*16 icon, a 32*32 one, and a 64*64 one...
maybe your problem is here...

so you can ignore them
i assure you that i don't have any homeworks or stuff like that, i am simply beginner who want's to know as much as possible about programming

hmmmmmm, maybe you should read a bit more about C++ at a first time, study about it, and when you really can find a solution to your problem (and when - of course - you did search a solution), ok, you can ask it in a smart question !!
