I have the following function and I would like to size the new window to the correct dimensions of the picture filename sent. How can determine the size of the picture at the time the function is called ?
Thanks.
function doWindow(filename)
{
winB = window.open("","","height=600, width=800,scrollbars=yes")
winB.document.location.href=filename;
}
|
|
|
|
|
You can point to the image in your popup window and get the size from there and then resize the popup to the new height and width variables.
picHeight=winB.document.imagename.height
picWidth=winB.document.imagename.width
winB.height=picHeight
winB.width=picWidth
I'm not positive on those last two lines, but there are attributes that will do that type of thing.

Hi,
Basically I'm trying to grab the value of a textarea.innerHTML and spit it out elsewhere in the page using what HTML tags have been used in the textarea. This works fine, what I need is help finding a newline character in the <textarea> on the fly, to parse this into the 'preview' pane. Below is a sample of what I'm trying to get at, ANY help will be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks guys!
<HTML>
<SCRIPT>
function changePreview(demo, source){
var buffer = source.value;
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[B]/ig, "<B>");
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[\/B]/ig, "</B>");
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[I]/ig, "<I>");
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[\/I]/ig, "</I>");
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[U]/ig, "<U>");
buffer = buffer.replace(/\[\/U]/ig, "</U>");
//buffer = buffer.replace(chr(10), "<BR>"); **I know I need something like this, but get JS errors
document.getElementById(demo).innerHTML = buffer;
}
</SCRIPT>
<BODY>
<form method=post action="index.htm" name="post">
<textarea name="message" cols=100 rows=20
onkeyup='changePreview("preview", this);'
onclick='changePreview("preview", this);'
onchange='changePreview("preview", this);'
onselect='changePreview("preview", this);'>
Bio Hazzard</textarea><input type=submit value=Update!></form>
<BR><BR>
Below is the 'preview' pane<BR><HR><BR>
<div id="preview"> </div>
</BODY></HTML>

If I have a div floated inside another div, is there any way I can make sure the outside div is always big enough to contain the inside div.
e.g. on this page[^] the image is floated, but it escapes outside the parent div if the window gets too wide (and overlaps the hr line below it, which I don't want to happen)

I'm trying to determine why the style (list-style-type:circle) is a different size from the default style (list-style-type:disk). Anyone knows what the best way is to make them equal, so that when you increase/decrease the text size they stay the same (and look aligned)? Thanks.

I am creating a Custom DataGrid for web. This control inherits from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl not from DataGrid. Here the control is constructed as table. I have created a class as my custom column. It has two columns type one is BoundColumn and the other is HyperLink column.
Data rendered in a TD like: writer.write(value). But now my requirement is want to add a template column. How it can be achieved.
HTML code:
<cc1:CustomGrid id="dgd" runat="server" PageSize="2" DataKeyField="iGroupID" Width="100%" Height="100%"> <Columns>
<cc1:CustomGridColumn Padding="2,0,0,2" Width="30%" DataField="iGroupID" HeaderHAlign="Center" HLnkTarget="_self" FooterText="" FooterPadding="0,2,0,2" HeaderText="FName" HeaderPadding="0,2,0,2" FormatStr="" ColumnType="Template"></cc1:ACustomGridColumn>
<cc1:ACustomGridColumn Padding="0,0,0,0" Width="30%" DataField="iUOM1" HeaderHAlign="Center" HLnkTarget="_self"
FooterText="" HAlign="Center" FooterPadding="0,2,0,2" HeaderText="LName" HeaderPadding="0,2,0,2"
FormatStr="" ColumnType="BoundColumn"></cc1:ACustomGridColumn >
<cc1:ACustomGridColumn Padding="0,0,0,0" Width="40%" DataField="iUOM2" HeaderHAlign="Center" HLnkTarget="_self"
FooterText="" HAlign="Center" FooterPadding="0,2,0,2" HeaderText="LName" HeaderPadding="0,2,0,2" FormatStr="" ColumnType="BoundColumn"></cc1:ACustomGridColumn> </Columns>
<ItemStyle CssClass="scASGridItem"></ItemStyle>
</cc1:CustomGrid>
I want to add template column to the <columns> tag

Hi To ALL!
If i type URL like this
www.sample.com/cards
it should open a page cards.asp or any page .
how should i do.
pls help me...
Thank you
Mahesh

You could do a number of things, firstly you could write a redirect in the default.asp in that folder: i.e. Response.Redirect("Cards.asp")
Or you could setup IIS to use cards.asp as a default document, by going to the IIS manager, Right click on the website, go properties then add cards.asp in the documents tab.

|
|
I would make a directory called cards and put default.asp in the cards directory.

Hi
I am sending some data from one win form application to a database in the remote machine through a web service running in the remote machine.
My requirement is first I have to find out that either the machine (Win form application running machine) is connected to the network or not?
If the machine is connected to the network I have to send the data to the remote machine else I have to store the data locally.
Could any one tell how to detect weather the web service is running in the remote machine or not?
Could any one through some inputs on this ?
Regards
Subbu.

I am developing some web apps on an XP professional box.
I need to update an old ASP system and I am having difficulty running it on that box.
The box is running IIS 5.1 and has ASP .Net installed Version 1.
Even a simple "Hi" ASP page gives me the error:
Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.
DOes anyone have any advice for this?
Thank you.

Couple of things to check...I've had the same problem before and I can't remember exactly what it was that I did to fix it, but check the following:
1. in IIS, properties of "Default Web Site", Home Directory Tab, click Configuration Button. Make sure, in the Mappings tab, that .asp Extensions are still mapped to c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\asp.dll
2. When you setup the virtual directory for your site, after you select your directory path, make sure "Run Scripts (such as ASP)" checkbox is checked. I think the default is unchecked and I didn't notice it because i was so used to just clicking Next-Next-Next to get it setup. I also don't see where you can check it after you've created your virtual directory, so maybe try one from scratch again.
hope one of those fixes your problems....i'll keep thinking if not....

Also, make sure you have registered asp.net with iis. The command you have to run in order to do this is:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Aspnet_regiis.exe
(depending on which version of .net you have)

Can anyone recommend a good (preferably free) HTML-Textbox (ie allows WYSIWYG HTML text entry in a web form). There are lots out there... FreeTextBox http://wiki.freetextbox.com/[^] looks good but is impossible to install (and the help is practically non-existent and worse than useless.)
Thanks - Phil

I have been writing my first CGI program, but have problems loading images and background files. Both the Server and Browser are on the same PC.
I needed to write:-
cout << "<body background=\"file:///C:\\GoAhead\\ws031202\\web\\cgi-bin\\images\\MyBackground.jpg\">"
to get the images loaded.
i.e. the following line did not work:-
cout << "<body background=\"http//C:\\GoAhead\\ws031202\\web\\cgi-bin\\images\\MyBackground.jpg\">"
I tried this and it did not work
cout << "<body background=\"./images/MyBackground.jpg\">";
Later in the program when I tried this the image was not displayed (little box with red cross - image not found)
Also tried a different image as follows, did not load.
cout << "<img SRC=\"./images/smiley.gif\">";

You have to reference the images (and any other resources) in terms of the web path. Forget the fact that you are on a filesystem. As far as the web server is concerned you are on a virtual filesystem. So:
img src='http://localhost/maybe-sub-dir/image-name.jpg'
if you get my meaning

I am using visual studio .net to write some apps. In the past when I wrote applications I used a lot of java script (I have a lot of scripts). I ahve been inlcuding these scripts in VS whhile they work I find it hard to debug them. For example I can't set break points or watch variables.
Is there an alternative?
I hope this is not a real stupid question....I'm new to this
Brian

You can set breakpoints in javascript. Make sure Tools\Options\Debugging\Just-In-Time has Scripts checked in visual studio. Also make sure Tools\Options\Advanced\Disable Script Debugging is NOT checked in Internet Explorer. If it still won't stop at a breakpoint, start your app, then attach to it from the Running Documents tab (next to solution explorer tab when a web page is running).

Thanks for the reply.
I tiake it then that there is no substitute for java script in .net?
Also I made changes you suggested and still cannont get the debugger to stop at a breakpoint or watch a variable in JS. What I could not do was find the running documents tab. Where can I find this?
