I need an IDE, apart from VS .NET. (Not just a Code Editor)
Which would be good IDE for developing .NET applications?
It should also have intrinsic (compile and run from within the IDE) C#, ASP.NET, C++, Java, JSP. Anything else would be a plus.

Including all of that is very difficult. AFAIK, there is no IDE which contains C#, ASP.NET, C++, Java and JSP per default.
Must IDEs, however, can be extended by plug-ins.
I suggest you look into Eclipse (eclipse.org), which can be set up to provide support for nearly every programming language, if there is a plug-in available.
For C# I would recommend SharpDevelop (www.icsharpcode.com or .net or something like that).
Both are OpenSource and as such, can be downloaded for free.
Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
There is X-Develop of course.
It has a 20-day trial version. But I don't want to buy it. So I am looking for something similar.

You have borland IDE also for C#, but the cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...............
Borland always beats MS, in price also.

Yes, Borland C# Builder.
Can u tell me this :
I compile a project from C# Buider and it gives me the required output on the command line console. However, the console window terminates immediately on completion of the output.
What do I have to do, to make it visible until I give the exit command ? An option is writing the line:
Console.Readline ();
at the end of the program. But I want to know, if this can be done NON-programmaticaly; i.e. by adjusting the IDE itself - Project / Run / Tools -menus, etc.
Best regards,

Primal Code from Sapien covers the .Net platform.
Eclipse would be the next suggestion. It may not include "all flavors" currently but it seems to be maturing at very rapid pace.

You need to get the windows handle by p invoking the windows API function "FindWindow" and pass the windows's title in the first parameter and null for the second. Then you the api function, "ShowWindow" with the two parameters of the window's handle (IntPtr) and either (int) 0 to hide the window or 1 to show it again.
Here is some code samples:
//using System.Runtime.InteropServices
[DllImport("user32.dll")]
private static extern IntPtr FindWindow(string Class, string Title);
[DllImport("user32.dll")]
private static extern bool ShowWindow(IntPtr handle, int swConstOption);

it can be as simple as possible

This request is about the worst I've seen here in a while.
You want someone to write you a pacman game? Go to rentacoder.com.
You want something for borland c? Don't ask for it in a C# forum.
If you have troubles with a specific C# problem you can ask for help here, for everything else please pick the right place!

Add a Console.ReadLine() at the end of the program, that'll make the app stay on screen till you hit Enter.

Thanks a lot Senthil. That works just fine.
Actually the IDEs also have something to do with it.
With the SharpDevelop IDE, I don't have to to do this programmatically; i.e. add the ReadLine () method. The appl stays on screen and says : "Press any key to continue"
So I was thinking if in C# Builder, we can adjust the ouput from the Project/Tools menu, other than programmatically.
By the way, apart from VS .NET, which in your opinion would be good IDE for developing .NET application. It should also have intrinsic C#, ASP.NET, C++, Java, JSP. Anything else would be a plus.
Warm regards,
Sourav.

hi,
You have to derive class using ComboBox and override mousemove method.
public class Class1:System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox
{ private ToolTip tp = new ToolTip();
public Class1()
{}
protected override void OnMouseMove(System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs e)
{
tp.SetToolTip(this,this.Text);
this.Invalidate();
}
}
//=============================================
In the main program you can use intance of class1 instead of ComboBox
private ListBoxToolTips.Class1 comboBox1;

Hi there
I wand to develop a custom control in C# that is Tristate Checkbox,
Shall I get any sample coe in C#?

Hi!
The CheckBox component in the FCL already has everything you need.
Just set the ThreeState property to true and you're done, no need to re-invent the wheel!
