Hi !
I'm trying to implement a system, where the user edit some properties (on an assembly) with different values for different keyframes ..
My problem is that I'm trying to get the assemblies as generic as possible, and the keyframes as light as possible (ie : a keyframe should only contain the properties that have changed, and not a cloned version of the assembly).
My question :
- I have some ideas on how to implement this in C++, but how can I exploit the properties as much as I can to do this ?
In a way I would need to store like a 'pointer' to the property to animate, and a 'instance' of that property to store the value into the 'anim'.
I see a solution, but this would mean creating a class for all the property types, register them, etc.. not cool. Can I sort that problem out with properties only ?

That was a seriously confusing post. If I've made any sense of it, here's an approach I would take:
If you have control of the assemblies, I would decorate the properties of each class with an attribute, like "[EditableProperty]", so that I can use reflection and select only those properties that I want to allow the user to change.
If you want this to work with any assembly, well, then, I guess having a complete list of properties is what you're stuck with unless you provide a separate dictionary.

Again, using reflection, you need:
the class instance
the property name
the new value
Also, by property, I truly mean a property with get/set methods. This is different from a "field", like "int foo;".
Look at something like MycroXaml[^], which is a good example of how you use reflection to create classes and change their property values. You could pretty easily create an xml file that specifies an animation of an object by streaming values into various properties.

how can i create a registry key during setup of my application?
then i have to create a value within that contain the "Full Path to Exe". how can know it (and set it on setup time) if the user during the setup chooses a custom directory on its computer?

If you want to it when the application runs you can use the :
Application.StartupPath PROPERTY .

Use the Microsoft.Win32 namespace and the RegistryKey object.
RegistryKey myKey = RegistryKey.LocalMachine.CreateSubKey("My Key");
myKey.SetValue("MyValue", "c:\test");

Here's a question--why do you need to know the full path? Your application should reference anything it needs locally.

Marc, I think it's a valid question.
I've also had a similar requirement once.
With a list of collaborating, but otherwise independent applications I needed a way to allow one application from this set to start another application from the set.
Saving the application's installation path in the registry was the path I chose...

Yes, you present a valid example, but I also wanted to question the need for it, because all too often people make the mistake that they think they need an absolute path.

If you're using a VS.NET Setup project you can easily add registry keys during install.
In order to set a registry key value to the installation location just set its value to "[TARGETDIR]". Windows Installer will replace [TARGETDIR] with the path the user chose during installation.

Hi All,
I am developing a Wireless Network monitoring tool, I have tried importing CreateFile and DeviceIoControl. But its not working for me. I need all wireless details such as SSID,BSSIList,Signalstrength etc.. I have even tried WMI. I think the reason for failure of these two methods is incorrect specification of Name of the device. Is there any namespace, classes in C# to get this done can anyone help me its very urgent.

None at all. WMI doesn't have any classes that expose this either. You'r best bet is a third party library. But be warned, not evey wireless card is capable of doing this. You might want to checkout AirSnare for some library hints.

When you start VS, you get the project list with the recent edited projects. I wonder why the date of edit is the date of project creation all the time. I need the last date of modification.
Has anybody an answer for this problem. Thank you !

That's the main problem. VS takes the date of the *.sln file, not the other one, but I didn't found a way to change/update the *.sln file yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the xmldoc.DocumentElement.LastChild would return farm-cfg since the only elements in the xml doc are root and farm-cfg. If this is the case then wouldn't you want to use InsertAfter if you are trying to get the element to insert after farm-cfg?

XmlElement 's have a PrependChild Option that add the node as the first child, so:
