hi,
I have a dataset and I have three txtbox feilds and two buttons(backword and forward)in the form I am trying to display the data row by row.
I am using the bindingContext property of the form to move forward and backword in the form so in the click event handler of the buttons I am just incrementing and decrementing the position property. I have binded the txt boxes to the respective feilds in the Emp table in the dataset using the visual studio.net IDE .
I wrote the event handler OnpositionChanged to take care of the bonds of the rows.
But when I run the code I only the first data is displayed in the corresponding controls but how do I write code to traverse to the next record.Can any one help me in this.
If any one has any link that shows the step by step procedure for this i would be really great full to them.
Thanks in advance.

Do you know any commercial application written in .NET?

Aren't parts of the VS.NET IDE written in .NET ? I'm sure some add ins are.

Yes, some parts of it (the Designers I think) ae written in .NET
There is also (though it's not a commercial app) the free ASP.NET Web Matrix app.
Appart from those two.. I can't think of any other app.

I guess the other question is, what proportion of programs written for a specific customer ( and web apps in particular ) is now written using .NET ? There are still huge websites using ASP or PHP. because they always have. Office doesn't even use MFC, for the same reason - it existed before MFC, and keeps getting built on the same code base.

Well, I've written several for my clients. I'm currently working on a complex client/server application written in C# and using declarative programming techniques.

Texas Medicaid is technically a government agency, but like many large government agencies, their IT is contracted to a commercial company.
They have online eligibility verification as well as claims submission and processing both of which are by any standard commercial applications, and the platform is ASP.NET. They also have a desktop edition that allows healthcare providers to access the same system using a Windows interface instead of a browser, and this is a NET application as well.
They may not be as big as e-Bay, who is? But Texas is in the top 4 in terms of state Medicaid programs, up there with CA, NY,and FLA. I work with a pediatrics clinic in Austin, which is what I would consider a modest size city, actually small by my standards (Atlanta) or compared to Dallas. We see 150 kids a day and submit well over a 1000 transactions to their site daily. So for the entire state of Texas, it is a pretty large system, definitely.
I have no idea how many servers they run, but if your question is "Can NET really be used to develop large stable applications" I would have to say yes. Texas Medicaid site availablity is for all practical purposes 100% and in terms of server operation errors, I would decribe them as negligible.

I've managed to install and successfully run web services that call numerous components in the Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary on my local development box (XP PRO) calling a local instance of sql server.
My production server does not have Visual Studio installed so when I install the Enterprise Library, the code does not compile. So I just copied the compiled modules from my local box to the server.
As a final step, I ran the "Install Services" batch file after all the above and it ran just fine.
However, when I make a call on the production server to the db server (same box), my service complains with 'The Type initializer for "Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Instrumentation.DataCommandFailedEvent" threw an exception'
Of course this doesnt happen when I run the same code locally.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to create a launcher form where I create dynamically several buttons, each of which holds in the Tag attribute,
the name of a form class (i.e. Form1, Form2,....)
After I have the buttons created and also a handler for each button wired to the buttons click event, I want to call the corresponding form and open it. I have a sub called "ActivateFormOnTheFly" from wich I can open those forms.
The problem I found is that I can't come with the right code to open the forms using the button's Tag attribute
The name of the form is available in sender.Tag() of "ActivateFormOnTheFly"
What snippet of code should I write there?
Thans in advance
Private Sub Check4Forms()<br />
<br />
Dim myFiles() As String<br />
myFiles = Directory.GetFiles(Application.StartupPath & "\...\")<br />
<br />
Dim FilePath, FileName, FileExt, File As String<br />
Dim myPath(), myFile() As String<br />
<br />
For Each FilePath In myFiles<br />
<br />
myPath = FilePath.Split("\")<br />
FileName = myPath(myPath.GetUpperBound(0))<br />
myFile = FileName.Split(".")<br />
FileExt = myFile(myFile.GetUpperBound(0))<br />
File = myFile(myFile.GetLowerBound(0))<br />
<br />
Dim FButton As New System.Windows.Forms.Button<br />
<br />
If File.StartsWith("F") And FileExt = "vb" Then<br />
<br />
FButton.Text = File<br />
FButton.Tag = File<br />
Me.Panel1.Controls.Add(FButton)<br />
FButton.Dock = DockStyle.Top<br />
<br />
AddHandler FButton.Click, New System.EventHandler(AddressOf Me.ActivateFormOnTheFly)<br />
<br />
End If<br />
<br />
Next<br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Public Sub ActivateFormOnTheFly(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
<br />
End Sub

So you have the name of the class as a string and want to instantiate and invoke methods? Use reflection. Like
Form f = (Form) Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetType("your_string_here"));
f.ShowDialog();

You'll need to draw them yourself, perhaps in a derived class ?
