Hello everyone
I am creating a plugin for my tech support app that will allow file transfer between two clients. I want to use DIME for this but the only example I have found was a client downloading and uploading files from the server using a webservice.
I was wondering if it was possible to have each client install the webservice on their end and utilize the file transfer capabilities that DIME offers. Instead of a client simply downloading and uploading from a webservice on a server, they would be using the webservice on a client.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have a great day,

I have a process that is executing so fast that the ui can't keep up. there is a function that is called as fast as the next file is copied from an old location to a new location. I am keeping a record of this in a textbox. however, this is happening so fast that the form surface is greyed out kinda and not showing the control's contents untill the process of copying files has completed. Worker threads shouldn't be used to manipulate ui controls, and I've tried using a timer, and I've tried delaying threading. I've had no luck. Even invalidating the control every time a new item should be painted doesn't work. I am very open to any help or suggestions. Thank you,
Stephen

problem solved. if anybody else ever has this problem, this is what I used:
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(15));
form2.Invalidate();
form2.Refresh();
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(20));

You could also replace all this code with a simple call to:
Application.DoEvents();
This will let the UI respond to WM_PAINT messages and update the screen.

Hi
How can I get the location my dll is running at?
Thanks
|
|
|
|

If its releated to the location of the exe ,then you can get the location of that exe by ,Application.Startuppath property.

Thanks, but I really need to know where the dll is running. Is there any way to do this?
Cheers.

You can use Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location .
There are other static methods in the Assembly class to provide information about the calling assembly and several others as well.

A form is like a normal class. You can pass values through
the constructor of the form (if it is a one time initialization) or by creating a property that can be set from the other form. Something like
class MainForm : Form
{
public void SomeMethod()
{
new OtherForm(12).ShowDialog();
}
}
class OtherForm : Form
{
int val;
public OtherForm(int val)
{
this.val = val;
}
}

Hi All,
I have create a .NET Remoting Server and I can to call from VC6/VB6 client. When I call from .NET client, it is OK. Please tell me how to do from VC6/VB6.
Thanks,

I'm afraid that's going to be next to impossible to do. The remoting framework is part of the .NET FCL, so my guess is it would require .NET on the client side too.
If it's ok to have .NET on the client side, then maybe you can create a CCW(COM Callable Wrapper) and use VC6/VB6 to use it just like any other COM component.

SOMEONE please help me out here. this should be a very easy fix but i just cant get it to work! i'm probably making a stupid mistake cuz i'm programming so late... here is the problem. I have a (multiple selection) listbox that I populated from a database and I want to go through and see what the user selected. The code builds and executes but when I make any selections the "Selected" option keeps returning FALSE when it should be TRUE!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Here is my code:
int j;
string temp;
string[] asSelected = new string[lstListBox.Items.Count];
foreach (ListItem i in lstListBox.Items)
{
if (i.Selected)
asSelected[j++]=i.Value.ToString()+", ";
}
temp = asSelected[0];
for (int i=1; i

Well tell me what ListItem should be? Its not a class of the framework. I assume you added those objects into the ListBox but how should the ListBox know to set the Selected property of this special class which it cannot know?
Try instead iterating over the SelectedItems property of the ListBox:
string s = "";
foreach (ListItem i in lstListBox.SelectedItems){
s += i.Value.ToString() + ", ";
}

I believe windows has an event scheduler you can use. Or you can use DateTime.Now and thread.Sleep, I guess.

if i load an image (png, bmp...) in a PictureBox.Image and i try to delete that image by windows delete rightclick command i get an allert like this: "impossible to delete becouse the file is used by another process".
I have to close my application to manage that file (rename, cut, delete...)
why?
|
|
|
|
|
This is because the Image property, loaded from a file, keeps the file open for the lifetime of the Image. See this[^] KB article on MSDN for the details and workaround.
