In the following code:
-------------------------------------
Private Sub MenuItem1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MenuItem1.Click, MenuItem2.Click, MenuItem3.Click
.....
End Sub
--------------------------------------
How to determine which menuItem is clicked?
Thanks.

cast the first parameter to a menuitem, if the cast succeeds, check its name property...

Hello, I would like to know if anyone knows of a link, or site which has a free VB.NET compiler on it. This is other then the MS .NET SDK. I am trying to find one, since I'm on a dail up connection, and the .NET SDK is well over 150mb which will take a long time to download for me.
Hope you know of one, thank you.

No-one else makes a VB.NET compiler. If they did, it would likely be about the same size.
PC magazines often put this sort of stuff on cover discs, or you can see if there's a user group in your area, which may have a copy to loan you, or maybe someone there has ADSL.
If worst comes to worst, I think Microsoft sell the discs for the price of postage.
Or., if you're a student, the student edition of VS.NET is cheap as chips. The individual languages instead of the full IDE are even cheaper.

Go to a public library with Internet access and take a blank CD with you. Chances are you'll be able to download it there and burn it to disk.

At the least you will probably need the dotnet runtime. This is about 15 meg. This is doable with a dialup but not pleasent. You may already have this (it is in XP service pack 2) or be able to get it from a magazine coverdisk.
As for the compiler you can get compiler and VB.net IDE for free from:
www.icsharpcode.com/OpenSource/SD/Download/[^]
It is called Sharpdevelop and is a free dotnet IDE. It does VB and C# and can convert code between the two. Its also only about 7 meg which is fine over a dialup.
Sharpdevelop will wotk fine with just the dotnet runtime but you wont be able to use any debugging (not easy to do in the #develop ide anyway) and you wont have any documentation but atleast its better than 150 meg download.

In a small application I write I use a listview in Details view with check boxes. The listview has 3 rows and 2 columns. The second column of each row is initially empty. When I click a check box to check it, I perform some computation and insert the result into the second column. When I uncheck the box, the column is cleared.
My problem: I couldn't find a simple way to determine in which row the check box I clicked is located. I've finally done the following: in the ItemCheck event of the listview I prepare a list of the currently checked rows. Then I start a timer with an interval of 250 ms that runs only once (AutoReset = False). In the Elapsed event of the timer I prepare another list of checked rows. This list contains the updated state of the box I clicked. I can find the row of the box I clicked by comparing the 2 lists.
This method works but I feel it's a little cumbersome. Is there a better way?
Thanks!

Isn't the list item you checked the selected item? If so, you can use listView.SelectedItems(0) will get you the selected item.
Even otherwise, you can loop through the list of items and find out which one was checked, instead of doing it the way you are doing now.

Senthil

We don't support third party components here simply because there are thousands of them. I myself, have never heard of KODAC in 20 years of this business. Your best bet is to contact the support of the manufacturer who made it and see what they've got to offer.

This file you noted:
"kcl310.dll"
does not seem to be part of the Kodak Imaging controls files, what is it?

Hello there,
It is not part of KODAC but part of KOFAX imaging controls.
I tried to register this DLL again but the problem was not resolved.
Thanks a lot for the help.

If you used PowerPoint as a component in your code, the end user MUST have Office installed on their machine in order to run your app.
If not, then you could include the PowerPoint Viewer[^] with your application.
