Thanx Chris for your valuable sugesstion of how to assign value to textbox but the question here was to get only one record from a list of records in database. ne ways i solved the problem. i think you are right that everyone should learn on their own.

Hi Manik. I didn't mean that you shouldn't ask for help, just try to solve the problem yourself first. And perhaps explain it better, I read your second to last response as meaning you didn't know how to set a string to a textbox, and because that's such a basic question, I answered it AND said that for questions like that, you really shouldn't need help.
But, by all means, ask for help when you're stuck, that's what this forum is for.

Good day everyone,
I am using Crystal Report, my report file run on Crystal Report 10.0 is right, I use the Crystal Report Viewer in VB.NET for showing it, when I debug to Show() function, I got the alert "The request could not submitted for background processing." Please verify this problem.
I have to be sure before continue with this approach. So, please guide through your help.

Hi, i am a beginner in Software programming.
Q1) Can anyone tell me how to design a TCP/IP networking which the Server only listen to a specific CLient...
Let say.
Both Client and Server are using Port 8080.
A client been fixed with an IP ("192.168.0.2").
The Server will only wait(listen) to the CLient with IP("192.168.0.2")only.
My design is as following, but always give error "SocketException", Can anyone help me to correct it.

Ok, I know what you are thinking.  Why was this posted on the VB.Net forum? Well, let me explain.
I Have a DHTML text editor that I currently import Microsoft Word documents into via IE. The only problem is only text comes across currently. I came across info on MSDN that said images can be saved out of Word 2003 as bmp files. So far I can open the document, get a handle on each image, and copy them to the clipboard, but for some odd reason, probably my fault  , I can't seem to save them to the hard drive.
I've included the code below, perhaps you can assist, especially if you know MS VB.NET and VBScript better than I, which wouldn't be difficult to do.  Basically I get the image copied to the clipboard fine but then I don't seem to be saving anything out. Nothing fails, it just doesn't save. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have made an Excel Addin that creates four buttons and links them to my forms to retrieve data. I used a Shared Addin project so that I would get a .msi file generated for me when I built the solution. All is well until I attempt to remove the addin. The msi file as put an entry into the Add/Remove Programs list so I simply went there and clicked remove. I went back to Excel and the buttons were still there. I have restarted the machine and the buttons continue to exist and connect to the forms that should have also gone away.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?
As a side point that may be of some concequence, when I reinstalled the program I ended up with 6 buttons coming up. All of these buttons link to the appropriate form. I believe this problem is related to the following code from my connect.vb file.
This only creates one button:

hey,
Here is a wierd problem I've been breaking my head over for the last couple of days........ I am writing a program in VC which reads information off a window written in VB using the windows handles which I obtain programatically (and which can be viewed by Spy++). The object that I want to read stuff from contains 4 other objects
1. A drop down
2. Label (which I want to read)
3. A Tree
4. Some gif
Through Spy++ when I view this object within the VB application it shows it as "ThunderRT6UserControlDC" ( which is a VB thing ). However I cannot view 1 and 2 through Spy ++ while I can view 3 and 4....now I know that 1 and 2 are a part of the "ThunderRT6UserControlDC" cause I can hide the parent and all 1,2,3 and 4 disappear. If I can get the handle to 2 I can read in the text
Someone PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ help me with this its killing me.

Hello All,
Can someone point me to a way to have either
A. A multiselect combobox for a property or
B. A collection that shows the items already filled in when elipses is clicked
I know that if I define a custom property as a collection it will show in the property browser as as Item... and when I click the elipses it will pop me into the window to Add/Delete items. What I need is a way to already have the items be displayed when the window opens up and to allow the user to Select/Deselect only items already present.
Ideally, I would like to do the old move from the list on the left to the selected list on the right. Alternatively, a multiselect combobox would also work.
I have used TypeConverters a little bit and have created a combobox which allows the user to select one item out of the combobox but I have never attempted what I am referring to above.

Friends;
I need your advise to decide if I should use VB6 or VB.NET in my next project that will deliver to customers. To me the hasle of asking customers to install .NET machine is too much, one of the problem is it will require 1G for .NET framwork.
Another thing is I heard alot about .NET but I don't see may real application using it so I don't know what is the catch. I am the type of programmer like to get the job fast to meet time to market and not "do what Bill tell you.."
I need your advise,

Where on earth did you see that???? The redistributable for the Framework requires 150MB of hard disk space and a recommended minimum of 96MB of RAM.
The SDK version requires about 880MB of hard disk space and 128MB of RAM.
In my opinion, drop VB6. Development using the .NET Framework is MUCH easier. Lots of the functionality you'll need is included in the Base Class Library of the Framework, where-as in VB6, you have to write a bunch of it yourself.
Microsoft is also dropping support for VB6 soon.
The choice is up to you...

I agree with Dave. The redistributable file for .NET is only about 23M in size.
As for real world applications that use .NET, there is Vault[^] from SourceGear that was written entirely in .NET. I have worked on projects at Kodak and Xerox that use .NET and will be sold soon. And at Xerox it was .NET 2.0 that we used. I am also starting to use it for my own development and software that I sell. There are also alot of component development houses that create .NET version of their COM components. So there is alot of use in companies today, but you might not be seeing it.

I agree to above 2 comments.
Learning .Net also won't be much difficult, as you are already into VB6. Rather its having more on OO concepts, which will make ur work more easy. Maintenance, deployment etc also becomes easy to implement.
Once you start working on .Net you will feel like migrating ur existing vb6 app to .net.
Go ahead chap, find a good book on .Net and other resources start on with it.

If adding another lines means adding another index to the array, then you can use a simple Redim Preserve ArrayName(NumberofIndexes). If your array had one element then NumberOfIndexes should equal 2. Don't know if this helps you much

ReDim Preserve for arrays, but you might want to look at ArrayList or StringCollection (or many other .NET collections).
The collections offer good performance when adding new items (better than ReDim Preserve), but have other aspects that may reduce performance, so try ArrayList, and if your items are always strings, try StringCollection.
Also, if you have to do lookups by key on the list then Hashtable is great.

i have 3 sheets on thesame workbook.sheet 1 2 and 3.when i run this code, it prints the 3 sheets to 3 different converted pdfs pages requesting for 3 different saves as well. so that means i will have to save 3 times.meanwhile if i convert from the inbuilt acrobat on excel it prints all the sheets to one file .so i ve a file with 3 pages .pls is there a way i can work on this codes so that i could have my sheets on one file?

You primary source of information for the component would be the peopl who wrote PDFill.
I've never used the thing myself, let alone even heard of it before.

it is working just that it saves the sheets diffrerently as sheet 1 2 and 3 in 3different files instead of sheets 1 2 and 3 in one file .

Like I said, to solve a problem like that, you'll have to get ahold of whoever wrote PDFill and see if there is something you can do to get it to save everything in one file.
