If you have a dream, follow it, because it might just become true.

I believe, You are not checking CRegKey State before Writing or reading data. I too using CregKey from Long time, and this type is error usually arise due to permission or Security

That ASSERT is only invoked in atlbase.h when you try to
delete a subkey or value, close a subkey or set a value
in a subkey where the subkey is still null. In other words
somewhere you tried to create or open a subkey which failed
and you ignored the failure and proceded to try to set,
delete or close that subkey. There is no other explanation.
IF you are really checking the success of opening the subkey
before setting the value then you are probably still trying to
close or delete the invalid key somewhere later.

I think your question is not very well formulated ! Because the standard edit control accept those characters...
What are you looking for exactly ? Maybe you want to implement a kind of parser or xomething like that ? If yes, look in the articles of this website, there is a section about parsers (don't remember exactly where). Otherwise, try to be a little bit more explicit.

actually, i think it's far from being perfect...
i really liked to add formal calculation into it (like "x + x" returning "2x" )
i also like to add more personalization, like allowing the users to configure the number of digits they'd like to appearing as a result, etc...
I also thought (one day i was dreaming too much) to adding a graphical area to draw functions (2D or 3D why not )
but i saddly don't have enough time to make all these at the moment...
hey, you know what ? i really liked to share this with you (if you agree of course)... it would be grateful to me if you accepted to become my co-author on that article, or at least, help me with some useful tips/suggestions...
i'm waiting for your answer "hurrily"

Hi everyone,
I am currently finishing my vocational training. After this 3-year-phase I will be transferred to another department, which uses a different approach:
In my current department, most GUI-design is done with WinForms or VB6. The "new" department uses the MFC for most of its GUI-stuff, so I need to get into that ASAP.
That means I am pretty much relying on you guys to provide me with some pointers to sources where I can read up on GUIs with the MFC and the MFC in general.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Sebastian

Why does ReadFile function hang after successfully reading a byte from port?
|
|
|
|
|
You must give more detail about the problem if you want help.
The opinions expressed in this communication do not necessarily represent those of the author (especially if you find them impolite, discourteous or inflammatory).
|

|

I wrote a program in Visual C++ to implement Serial Communication. The program compiles successfully and runs also. After initialising the ports, when a byte is written to the port, on one computer and is read on another computer (which is connected to the earlier computer) the code works. But when I try to read the port again the program simply hangs. The only way out is then to stop the debugger.
I used the initialisation code provided in a article posted on this site itself (the one written by Eshwar). But to implement read and write I only used the functions ReadFile and WriteFile respectively.
