hey,
firstly, if you don't feel my answer correct, maybe it's because you didin't formulate yours clear enough.
secondly, even if you install
SDK for "VB.NET" as you say, it is not a VB question since you don't ask for code... installing a software has never been part of a specific language

Firstly, you are the kid here. Both by age and attitude. Learn some manners, treat people with respect and act professionally and you will get the same in return.
Secondly, Toxcct took the time to carefully and correctly answer your question. If you can't figure out how to make his advice to you work, you ask for more help and describe why it didnt work, you do not call people names. May I take this moment to suggest that if Toxcct's initial reply did not answer you question then you should reword your question because I would have answered the same thing. The standard format for that kind of question is to state what you are trying to do and what you have tried to get there. "Uhhhh, anyone?????" tells us nothing. So it asks you for a directory path... Where? When? What does it say about it? It's not too late to ask for help.
Thirdly, this thread does not belong in the Visual Basic forum. The advice you have been given by others and disagreed with is correct. This thread belongs in General Discussions[^] purely because there is no other forum that is suitable. By posting in the correct forum you will get the correct people looking at it. Most developers here are specialists in only one or two languages and don't read the other forums so you are only limiting your responses by posting it here.
And finally, you seem to have an issue with homosexuality. If you need someone to talk to offline then I'll be happy to listen.

i have placed textboxes and some buttons on a form in a group box. now i want to control thse text boxes in a module. what should i do?

if you made yourform correctly, the controls on it are declare at least protected, better private. you cannot so access them from outside the form...
i don't really understand why you want to do such a thing ?
can you light my thought please ?

oh sure.
actually i have placed textboxes on a form which are disabled by default. now i want to pass this form to a module which contains a function that is going to check that "which control is textbox" and then will enable these text boxes. now the problem is that when i pass the form to module, i cannot make it to ditinguish b/w textboxes and other controls.
if not enough plz do guide me....

why, are your controls created dynamically ?
don't the textbox always have the same ids ?
the form should be modified from within it, so, i suggest you to make a public function on your form, that is subject to be called by your module (so, you'll have the effect that the moddule actually updates the controls' statuses...

ok now thats a good solution. the form stores all the controls in an array what is the name of that array?

thats nice one mate, but could you tell what array does the form uses for the purpose of storing controls.

if you reach the code of your frame, you'll see into the constructor (New() ) a call to InitializeComponent() .
in this function, I found the first line as
Me.components = New System.ComponentModel.Container
i so think that they are stocked there.
but you still don't answer my question : why don't you use the identification name of each control (which must be unique) ?

the reason for doing so is that i have almost 13 textboxes on the form and i dont want to control each of them separately.
any ways thanks for the help i think this will help my problem to be worked out.
thanks once again.

I'm using the System.io.Stream object to read a binary file. The file contains various value in different formats. The problem is that the file contains float-values and the stream-object dumps the data in a byte-array. Is there any way to convert, for example 4 of the read bytes into a 32-bit float? Or do I have to read the file through some other means?

i would like to do this
in form code
1. txtbox.text = usercontrol.Field("FldName")
2. usercontrol.Field("FldName") = Txtbox.text
i used the following code
1. Public Property Get Field() As Fields
Set Field = oRst.Fields
End Property
2. Public Property Set Field(ByVal vNewValue As Fields)
Set oRst.Fields = vNewValue
End Property
no problem with everything, works fine if i run within vb6 but triggers error on 2. "Invalid use of property" when i compile the ocx.
tnx

I'm not sure if the usercontrols.field is a property you have to set. you might want to try:
Public Property Let Field(ByVal Value As Fields)
oRst.Fields = Value
End Property
Also it doesn't look like your get property will work correctly. How does the property know that you intend to get the "FldName" field?
|
|
|
|
|
actually my main problem is how to code this
in ford code
usercontrol.field("FldName") = txt.quantity
i just thought that the code below would work
in class module
Public Sub Fields(ByVal vNewValue As Fields)
set oRst.Fields = vNewValue
End Sub
since the code below works well in retrieving data
in form code
txtquantity.text=usercontrol.field("FldName")
in class module
Public Property Get Field() As Fields
Set Field = oRst.Fields
End Property
if you want i could send you the whole usercontrol code so you could take a look at it too.
btw im working on my own grid
tnx

Hello,
if someone knows how to help me I will really appreciate the answer.
I need to download a number from a web-page. I have created in Excel a model for stock evaualtion but I need to update the daily price. I have tried to open the web-page by simple Workbooks.Open Filename:="http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=A" and it works. My issue is that it takes a long time because my link is very slow.
Could anyone help me with some other method/function that is much quicker on how to get the Last Trade: Price from the web-page?
Thank you in advance. Meantime I'm going to learn more through helps ))
Kind regards
ra

You might want to find a webservice that provides this information. You won't be transferring all kinds of other junk with the information you want.
If you still want it from that page, though, your sunk. You can't speed it up without changing the Internet connection your using.
