You don't connecto to the machine, you connect to a server running on it. What are you trying to connect to?

Thanks for the reply progload,
My problem is nobody seems to know how this works here.
i have been asked to test the connection to the AS400 using vb.net
i have the server ip address, i have the user id and password to log into the as400. what or rather how would i test the connection then.
is it possible for a detailed explanation.
i need to display the file contents from a specified library into a data grid, tell me or give me an example.
thanx in advance.

I’m building an application that is used to manage project data such as CAD files, images, etc.
At the beginning of a project, a ‘rough’ directory structure that holds project information is created. This structure changes throughout the process of working on the project. The changes include: File/Folder renaming, deletion, adding and moving.
I’m trying to think of a user friendly interface where these file/folder operations can take place. I’m thinking of something similar to a Windows Explorer type window but with the ability to move folders up and down the tree. Or, even better, drag a folder to another location.
Has anybody ever seen any examples similar to this? Any ideas or suggestions??
Thanks
Brad

This isn't supported in Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003 with using a 3rd party plug-in, like VBCommentor[^]. Though in 2005, this is fully supported.

Hi, the VB question I have concerns my lack of how to use the Format and Mask properties in an Access/VBA form.
I have a form that is tied to a table with a Date/Time field (the table's field is declared to be of type Date/Time and I only want to store HH:mm:ss - no AM/PM or date).
I have tried unsuccessfully setting either/both the Format or Mask properties on my form to be
00:00:00;0;_
The unwanted side effects are:
AM/PM being tacked on.
clicking on the TextBox control can place the cursor anywhere in the formatted control (middle, front, end) - want to go to front.<br>
can sometimes wander outside of the mask - "1234401:00:00".
Would like to make my Form have a very usable time TextBox. What can I do in VBA code to achieve this?
ALSO - how can I override regional settings for time such as hh:mm:ss A/PM. I want 24-time, regardless - HH:mm:ss
Thank you so much for helping/pointing me to what I need to learn.
Regards,
Johnny

Microsoft have a free dll for doing this in XP, on the MSDN site ( from memory ). Beyond that, all methods of doing this cross platform involve SDKs that are quite expensive, AFAIK.

No, I don't even know if it supported VB, but I do recall it was a solution for XP only.
