I was wondering if there were code samples out there that helped detect what process is locking a file.
Example: you try to delete a file and it won't let you, it says another process is using this dll. You search through your Services and Task manager, and can't seem to find what process is using that dll. You reboot, and still no luck.
(I came across this with an Oracle dll, and as it turned out some registry key was looking for that dll and kept loading it, but *what* process was loading it is still a mystery.)
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I am making an aplication with macromedia Flash & ASP.NET. Flash allows only jpgs to load at runtime, so what i wanna know is a way to upload any image format and convert that to no-progressive jpgs.
Is it possible??

Hi murtaza:
By default, to prevent Cross Site Scripting attacks, ASP.NET disallows HTML tags through QueryString, FormInputs etc. You will encounter HttpRequestValidationException whose message goes like "A potentially dangerous Request.QueryString...".
The solution is that, you can have a ClientSide JavaScript to escape() them and submit to the server where you can UrlDecode the same.
Also for MD5 and other Cryptography algorithms are available in System.Security.Cryptography namespace of .NET Framework BaseClass. However, feel free to check out this article on CodeProject on http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/XCrypt.asp[^].

Hi
Coders, I need Urgent help to set the value of the TEXTBOX through JavaSCRIPT.
What i 'm using is document.getElementById(OBJECT NAME).value = value
It is working but just shows the value, does not assign the value to the "VAlue" attribute of the Control permently and when u want to get the set value of the control through any Scripting Language , u could not get any, and when u view the source, No value attribute is set to the Value assigned throgh JavaSCript.
So can any body help me to come out this riddle.

Hello, First let me say that I am at best a beginner just learning windows programming. One project which I would like to do and think would not be that hard and could be useful to many of you if you work in IT support that is. The idea I have is that when supporting users, I typically need to remote control their machine which means getting their computer name from them. This can be rather tedious to get this information from a user. What I would like to do is create a client side app that send this information back to a server side app where users are showed waiting in a queue, at that point simply double clicking or righ clicking various support functions could be launched passing the needed information to the utility. For instance take the following list.
Right click ->
Remote Control PC
Remote Regedit
Remote Explore (default C$ share)
Remote Reboot
Remote Message Send
If anyone is interested or can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the group policy editor?
If you do just go to run and type in "gpedit.msc" without the quotes

Hoping someone can direct me to a solution on this. I have developed a pretty basic Client/Server system using Winsock2 using TCP (aka SOCK_STREAM)and when the client application of our system is installed and run on XP Pro, the application fails to open the socket when calling WSASocket. This has happened on two different machines. This problem does not occur on XP Home nor on Win2K Pro. Both of the problem machines have been upgraded to SP2.
Here is the code:
Socket = WSASocket (AF_INET,
SOCK_STREAM,
IPPROTO_TCP,
NULL, // LPWSAPROTOCOL_INFO lpProtocolInfo
0, // GROUP (reserved)
0); // DWORD dwFlags
This call in XP Pro returns INVALID_SOCKET and a subsequent call to WSAGetLastError() returns 0 which means it was successful. Hogwash. Need help on this.
Thanks,
Mike

This might be dumb, but is your application being blocked by the built in XP SP2 firewall?
If so, there is a recent article here on CP you can use a COM interface to add your application to the 'approved' list.
Also, you might need to open the port, if you use one not already opened up.

Hi!
I am using VB.NET and tryting to hide my application from taks manager while it is running. I've searched alot but find nothing can anyone help me ? pleaaaaaaase .........

There is no way to do it. One of the main tasks of the TastManager is to show ALL running processes. Otherwise viruses (as an example) could just run in a simple standalone process and no one would be able to stop or even recognize it...
|
|
|
|
|
|
It is possible. Inspect into Hooking DLL Functions, such as NtQuerySystemInformation
"Do we need us?"
|
|
|
|
|
So, how do you hide an application from task manager? There are ways to do it however the only reason you would want to do this is because you're writing a virus so I see no reason to tell you how to do it.
