How often do you discover that there is a real life trinity?
B.T.W. The concept is brilliant but could be abused by for the want of a better term "evil" people. Look at what they did with Alberts work!

Everthing can be abused. If I don't invent it, somebody else will do that. If I don't publish it, somebody else will use it in secret without the rest of the world suspecting anything.

True I suppose.
B.T.W. my english is hardly oxford standard but your tagline might be better as "Please inform me about my English mistakes, as I am still trying to learn your language." (though technically it's not my language!)

Hehe.. I guess I somehow like lady programmers... Since I think you're the first one I saw... Maybe because I like the idea of lady's having a more proper and elegant documentation... I'm a newbie programmer specially regarding C#... I only started last night.... By the way, I'm Raymond from the Philippines... I need to use C# with in our thesis and I have to meet a deadline by the end of the week so I'm a little bit desperate... I have to use some of your classes... Sorry... I'm really a beginner... I plan to create my own once I get the idea on how... For now, I thank you dearly...

Just wanted to drop a few lines -
I enjoyed it immensenly to once again read science fiction that is really science (instead of social/suicidal) fiction.
Maybe I am spoiled that I can't fully accept the setting of Halbsichtigkeit for what it is - carrier of your story, and my mind starts to poke holes into it. Sometimes a phrase, a picture or a single word makes me disconnect from the story.
Whatever, I hope that this once one will be recorded as "interesting debut of a successful author"

Hi Peterchen
You've read it?!
What do you think is wrong with the setting? Part 2 is already growing (first chapters of "3D-Schock"[^]), and maybe I can make a few things better.
Thanks so much for your comment

I'll wait for the dead tree version
From the whole, there's nothing "wrong" with the setting. It just sometimes feels like a "geeks utopia", perfect as planned. I think this is necessary to keep your focus on the things important to you (like free chocolate ), but it can feel constructed.
Don't get me wrong - I'm partial on this. It is my main problem, but also what makes your book unique, makes it stand out (for me more than the Synnie part).
For me personally - maybe if you'd left more open (so everybody can imagine this society as utopian or orwellian as s/he likes)...
Whatever: I'll never look at your Steganography the same way.

You're missing the chance to take influence on a book before it gets printed...
The pseudo-utopian society "changes" a lot in part 2, as I describe it a bit more. I have just posted a paragraph about my government on literaturportal.org... all laws are made by the national AI, which is running on a mainframe beneath the tower. The humans from the administration offices only write statistics and suggestions, and then the ruling program decides what to do. Cool world, isn't it?

Hi Corina,
I was pointed to your article on avi processing by another member Andrew Kirillov , in reply to my post : [http://www.codeproject.com/script/comments/forums.asp?msg=1231272&forumid=1649#xx1231272xx]
after having gone through your interesting article , i have noted that your app extracts images(or frames to be technical) from the avi as BMPs , I am currently required to save them as jpegs / gifs (as my project is web based).Could you pls give me any hints on how you aplication can be modifyed or by useing some other classes i can output the frames as web compatible formats mentioned above.
By the way nice Pic
regards
B

Hi B,
you might read the frames and save them as JPEG with .NET's default settings:
<br />
bitmap = videoStream.GetBitmap(currentFrameIndex);<br />
bitmap.Save(fileName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg);

Hi Corinna,
First let me apologise for missing out on the extra “n” in your name in my last post .
Thank you very much for you prompt reply , your article will be really useful if I can just make enough sense of it !!. I am a beginner in C# and basically a web programmer(PHP,ASP).
I will keep you informed of my attempt at creating the web-based frame grabber component (thanks to the pointers from your article).
On a different note : In your posts there is this line included at the bottom:
“Please inform me about my English mistakes, as I'm still trying to learn your language!”
Well I think you should change the “learn your language” part to “learn this language” or “learn it” or something like that, after all English doesn’t belong to one community or country in particular anymore, but has become pretty global in its usage.
Once again , thanks a bunch.
Cheers.

Hello, Greetings from Portland oregon. I'm intending to use your code describing how to decode individual images from an AVI file. Thank you for posting the solution on the Code Project! Do you have any information about how to get the audio data from the AVI file?
|
|
|
|
|
Hello Pete,
please have a look at the AudioStream class. It reads the raw audio data from an AVI file:

Hallo Corinna

Was programmierst du denn so?

Was ich programmiere?

Hi Corinna,
My name is Brian and I am from Algonquin, Illinois which is in midwest United States. I'm here because I have just learned some VBScript in the last 6 months and I now I like looking at other code to see how it works. You stuff is fun to read and very interesting. I am thinking about playing with VisualBasic. It is cold and snowy outside today where I live so today is a good day for learning.

Hi Brian,
why VisualBasic? C# is just as simple.
