Thanks For your reply. The problem is not that IE stops loading images. The problem is that IE reloads all the images that should have been loaded already when clicking on a link(only after the popup is opened). If you do no open any popups and click on a link within the page everything works fine(images are not reloaded). I am not using <a href=___> to popup images. I am using
<img src="Images/btn1.jpg" name="btn1" onMouseOver="rollOver('btn1',true);" onMouseOut="rollOver('btn1',false)" onClick="openPopImg('Images/ciexample1.jpg', 'Corporate Identity - example 1', '553', '529')">
The openPopImg is a js function within the head tags.

I'm writing a .NET application in which I have a html page that uses a calendar based on html and javascript. The calendar itself has it's own html-file which contains mostly javascript. To start using the calendar a javascript-function has to be called. Like this:
The textbox:
<input type="text" readonly="true" size="11" class="formfield" name="DOB" onClick="popFrame.fPopCalendar(DOB,DOB,popCal);return false;" />
then the iframe where popFrame can be found:
<DIV id="popCal" onclick="event.cancelBubble=true" style="BORDER-RIGHT: 2px ridge; BORDER-TOP: 2px ridge; Z-INDEX: 100; VISIBILITY: hidden; BORDER-LEFT: 2px ridge; WIDTH: 10px; BORDER-BOTTOM: 2px ridge; POSITION: absolute">
<IFRAME frameBorder="0" height="220" name="popFrame" scrolling="no" src="pages/calendar/popdob.htm" width="183"></IFRAME></DIV>
the called html-page (popdob.htm) holds the fPopCalendar function.
All works fine in IE (and in NN when you select the IE engine to work with) but NOT in FireFox. I realy don't know why. The error-message I get is:
Error: popFrame.fPopCalendar is not a function
IE thinks otherwise...
Who can help?

What is "popFrame"? Is it an object that is created by the script?
Have you created the variables DOB and popCal, or are you just trying to use elements in the page as if they where variables?

b { font-weight: normal; }

popFrame is the name of the IFRAME. DOB is not a variable but the name of the text (input) object and popCal is nothing more than the name of the DIV.
What I want is starting a javascript function in the html-page called in the IFRAME.

The reason it doesn't work is that you use a non-standard way of accessing the elements.
Som browsers let the elements be accessible directly through the window object or the document object. This only works in those specific browsers.
Use the document.frames collection to access the iframes in the page.
Use the document.getElementById() method to access elements in the page.
From the code inside the input element, the keyword 'this' references the input element itself.

Please tell me how to go about taking an existing, working C# application and web enable it.
Rather than produce Windows output as it now does, I need to get it to produce output that can be accessed from a web browser. The output is very simple and contains no clever bits just text and two buttons, one to Print and one for Done.

Assuming you application is properly designed with a data layer, business layer and presentation layer (each in their own assemblies) it should be a simple task of adding a new assembly to the project as a second presentation layer assembly, but this time presenting the information over the web as an ASP.NET Web Forms application. You then just need to connect up the buttons to the existing business layer.
If this is not the case then you probably have a lot of hard work ahead of you.

hi,
i couldnt find this on the php site so i decided to ask here.
if i put an ftp script on server 1 and it uploads files to server 2, then a client uses the script, does the file
go from the client to server 1 to server 2
or
directly from the client to server 2
thanks,
sam kline

|
|
|

That will depend on how you have the code setup. Do you have the script load the files to Server 2 without going through Server 1(meaning Server 1 isn't written in the code directly)?
|
|
|
|
|
you can do the same for both. Its depend that what you want pass the file from server 1 or from server 2, You have to mention that in your coding.

I am trying to check whether or not a server is operating properly before I redirect my users to a login page on that server. I use the code below. When I run the following code from a saved version on my desktop (i.e. C:/Desktop/test.html) it will display my alerts and then take me to the desired location. When I upload the code to my website and then run it (via www.mysite.com/test.html) it doesn't work. It never gets passed my checkStatus alert. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Why does it work locally but not on my website?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I am new to javascript; a friend of mine helped me with this code.
<html>
<body>
<h1> Please Wait...</h1>
</body>
<script language="javascript">
<!--
var pollInterval = 1000;
var error_url= "error_page.html";
var checkStatusUrl = "http://server_to_be_checked.com/login.php";
var req;
// check whether you body index page is up running
// this tells the wait page to check the status every so often
window.setInterval("checkStatus()", pollInterval);
//checkStatus();
function checkStatus()
{
alert("checkStatus");
createRequester();
if(req != null)
{
req.onreadystatechange = process;
req.open("GET", checkStatusUrl, true);
req.send(null);
}
}
function process()
{
alert("process");
alert(req.readyState);
if(req.readyState == 4)
{
// only if "OK"
if (req.status == 200)
{
if(req.responseText != "")
{
// a "1" means it is done, so here is where you redirect
// to the confirmation page
document.location.replace("http://server_to_be_checked.com/login.php");
}
// NOTE: any status other than 200 or any response other than
// "1" require no action
}
}
}
/*
Note that this tries several methods of creating the XmlHttpRequest object,
depending on the browser in use. Also note that as of this writing, the
Opera browser does not support the XmlHttpRequest.
*/
function createRequester()
{
try
{
// it went to here !!!!!!
req = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
//alert ( "Msxml2.XMLHTTP" );
}
catch(e)
{
try
{
req = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
//alert ( "Microsoft.XMLHTTP" );
}
catch(oc)
{
req = null;
}
}
if(!req && typeof XMLHttpRequest != "undefined")
{
// did not go to here
req = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
//alert ( req == null);
return req;
}
//-->
</script>
</html>

We have wikimedia in our website. The pages doesnt get refreshed or updated. Everytime the cached pages are only displayed. This problem is only in Firefox and not IE. Let me know why it happens.

We host all these 3 sites
www.xyx.com/a belongs to education sector
www.xyx.com/b belongs to finance
www.xyx.com/c belongs to insurance
these are indiviual child sites
when i browse these from the internet individually
everthing works fine but when i acces all the three simultaneously one of the other sites gives me a problem
and the error message is always different

|
|
|

Well - withouth the error-message(s) it would be hard to guess, but my bet is that they all access the same database/datasource and deadlock eachother yeilding various errors..... but it is a guess.

Code:
<script>
function Msg()
{
var agree = confirm("Save ?");
if( agree )
{}
else
{
return false;
}
}
</script>
on body :
<body onbeforeunload="return Msg();">...........</body>
so when I click "Cancel" on "Confirm Window", IE open a new alert box automatically. How can I disable this function of IE by using Javascript ?
Thanks!
Hung

Hi Hung,
You cannot disable this dialog box since you are using the onbeforeunload event. In this case, you might consider using this dialog to show the confirm message instead of using the confirm method. It looks something like:
<body onbeforeunload="return 'Save?';">...........</body>
|
|
|
|
|
But how can I change the content of the Messages ?
