Hi All,
I need to create an XSL style sheet and gotta get it done fast!
If anyone can help that would be great!
Basically, I am pulling data from SQL and need it to go to Excel. Everything works but the XSL template.
I need my data to show up as a table with headings (also pulled from the database) as such:
Heading1 Heading2 Heading3 Heading4
1 1 1 1
2 2 2 2
3 3 3 3
And I need the XSL sheet to use the spreadsheet standards...
<worksheet><row><cell>...
Any help would be so much appreciated...thanks!

Im trying to get the value portion of each element based on the name portion by using XPath. Something like //property[@name='LastName'] gives me the node for lastname, but im not sure how to get "Smith" out of that. Thanks in advance!

I'm writing the programm where I need to create images using SVG and Javascript:
this.svgObj = svgDocument.createElement("image");
this.svgObj.setAttributeNS(null, "x", this.bx);
this.svgObj.setAttributeNS(null, "y", this.by);
this.svgObj.setAttributeNS(null, "height", this.ex);
this.svgObj.setAttributeNS(null, "width",this.ey);
this.svgObj.setAttributeNS(null, "xlink:href", "sss.jpg");
svgDocument.documentElement.appendChild(this.svgObj);
But image isn't created. What's wrong in our code?
Similar code with shapes is working:
var shape = svgDocument.createElement("rect");
shape.setAttributeNS(null, "x", _x);
shape.setAttributeNS(null, "y", _y);
shape.setAttributeNS(null, "height", _h);
shape.setAttributeNS(null, "width", _w);

I'm attempting to put together an XML format for posting/migrating blog data, and while I'm in the design phase, I came across an interesting question.
What's the best way to take HTML that may or may not be valid, and nest it in an XML document, while still keeping the XML valid?
I'm trying to make it so that the data can be migrated between all manner of blogging apps (LJ, diaryland, self-hosted ones like Wordpress, Pivot, B2Evolution), and most of them have their own unique quirks that break valid XML (some, for instance, use <p> instead of <p />) if just dropped in there.
Is there some "comment" element, or other way of flagging chunks of data that shouldn't be explicitly validated?
Should I just leave it up to the software processing the data to replace all "keyword" type characters (<> etc) with their HTML equivalents? < &rt; etc... The problem with this approach, is that there are a ton of these, and I don't want to place undo stress on those writing the software to deal with this format.
Any ideas on valid ways to tell an XML parser "this is valid, just ignore it", or simpler ways to store unvalidated HTML in a valid XML doc, or in general just ideas as to what approach I should take?

can anyone tell me about xalan:nodeset and xalan:tokenize?
what is functionality of the following statement in .xsl
<xsl:value-of select="//state[@name=$state]/policies[xalan:tokenize(@clients, ',') = $client]/@URI"/>

This[^] was the first hit from google, and it confirmed what I thought. Tokenise will split @clients into an array of strings, every time it finds a ,. Then I assume that it will match when one of those values is the same as $client

how can i implement a similar functionality in c#, so that my function will perform the same task of xalan:tokenize?
And in xml how does an array of values get matched with a single value?

Google[^] has a heap of info on C# XSLT extensions
It would return a nodeset, so any values that match will be returned.

Is it possible to get rid of the overhead (namespace info, schema info, xml version)? Anyway I do not need this info since parsing will be done without XmlSerializer.
So I need that output looks like below:
<MyClass>
<Positions>
<Position>
</Position>
...
</Positions>
</MyClass>

If it's html, then it needs to be an img tag, so the gif file needs to be external to the output.
