I have been bugging them about since day one, and they keep telling me that it must be some form of interference from another device ... blaa blaa blaa ... but I can lock the router up every time, just by copying a large number of files.
I am no networking genius... but I would think that mine "could be" interferance, the router stays working, all the hardware is working after the "cut off". Interference from another device should interrupt the signal, but leave the hardware functioning, just like mine. But yours is locking up the router, that sounds like hardware.

Well, I purchased a LinkSys Wireless G router lastnight and set it up using the same "defaults" that I had the Netgear router configured under. After several hours use, and copying large numbers of files back<->forth from my server to various PCs (wired and wireless) not a single glitch.
So ... having done that, and said that, a call to Netgear is in order ...
Nothing like owning a $30 wireless paperweight ...

You can tell them they lost two customers.... I guess this is my next purchase too.

Well, I went more bizarre in my solution.... The machine I do the longest copies from is my DVR on a wifi ethernet bridge... so I am picking up a pair of electric outlet bridges to see if I can manage 1/3 megabit through the walls... they claim it will do 11 megabit, most reviews say 6 realistically, that's all still more than I need.
and surprise... LinkSys, bypass the wifi for anything other than handheld and work laptops which so far have not been a problem. Maybe swap the wifi out come tax season.

How to detect LPT port base address? Either in user or kernel mode.
How to enumerate LPT ports installed in system?
Thank you.

You don't need to detect the base addresses because the pnp manager should do this for you.
Enumerating LPT ports works via setupapi.
Don't try it, just do it!

This is a real hardware question . I'm going to build something of an old C64 computer, I only want to take the processor, and as few components as possible.
I'm going to do a hardware that displays time in binary. I'll need the ROM to, or at least another ROM, the program I want to write is like this in assembly:
org 100h
xor cx,cx
xor dx,dx
start:
inc eax
cmp eax,07FFFFFh ;clockspeed in hz
je sec
jmp start
sec:
xor eax,eax
inc bl
push dx
push ax
mov ch,bl
call printANuminCHwithSpace
mov ch,cl
call printANuminCHwithSpace
mov ch,dl
call printANuminCH
MOV dl, 13 ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
MOV dl, 10 ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
pop ax
pop dx
cmp bl,60
je min
jmp start
min:
xor bl,bl
inc cl
cmp cl,60
je h
jmp start
h:
xor cl,cl
inc dl
cmp dl,24
je day
jmp start
day:
xor dl,dl
jmp start
printANuminCH:
push ax
push dx
xor ax, ax
mov al, ch ;2 char
mov dh, 100 ;1 char skipping this for now
div dh
add al, 30h
MOV dl, al ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
xor ax, ax
mov al, ch ;2 char
mov dh, 100
div dh
mov al,ah
xor ah,ah
mov dh,10
div dh
add al, 30h
MOV dl, al ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
xor ax, ax
mov al, ch ;last char
mov dh, 10
div dh
add ah, 30h
MOV dl, ah ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
pop dx
pop ax
ret
printANuminCHwithSpace:
push dx
push ax
call printANuminCH
MOV dl, 20h ; print char
MOV ah, 02h
INT 21h
pop ax
pop dx
ret
The displaying code isn't going to be there.
Here's how it could look like when implemented:
The ports should be replaced and represented by their appropriate value.
org 100h
xor cx,cx
xor dx,dx
start:
inc ax
cmp ax,0FFFFh ;clockspeed in hz
je sec
jmp start
sec:
xor ax,ax
inc bl
out bl,0h
cmp bl,60
je min
jmp start
min:
xor bl,bl
inc cl
out cl,1h
cmp cl,60
je h
jmp start
h:
xor cl,cl
inc dl
out dl,2h
cmp dl,24
je day
jmp start
day:
xor dl,dl
jmp start
Is there any good company, (europe should be best, I live in Sweden), that makes ROMs? How much could it cost. I don't want to use to much money.
I need 17 outputs, do I need a multiplexer? Where could I get one?
How is the machine code in the C64?
Thanks in advance

This is an almost hardware question.
I'm working on a circut simulator.
The problem is that I don't know how to implement the ground.
Think like this:
- Everything, cords, batteries, diods, are objects. (I program in C#, and all objects is childs to a special class called item)
- The negative pole of a battery is giving output -100, wich could be called a low pressure.
- The positive pole of a battery is giving output 100, wich could be called a high pressure.
- Cords doesn't have any data, wich means if you want output from a cord it returns the sum of what it is conneced to.
Again, How do I make implement ground?

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to find information on the internet or in books that would help you get a better grasp of electrical circuits. As for implementing ground, the power of electricity needs somewhere to flow to. That would be ground. When you connect a positive or negative voltage to ground the power will flow. Between these you have your circuit or load.
|
|
|
|
|
That problem was that one ground couldn't know about the other, and then how would the ground be able to know when to flow?
I solved the proplem by 'cheating', as the ground I'm going to use don't have to be that specific.
Now my system is really good, I'm going to implement kirchkorvs rule or something, can't remember the name...

i have heard that not all hard drives have a serial number. they all have a volume serial number, which changes with every format, but not a hard disk serial number. different articles say different things about this issue and i'm confused. so my question is: do all hard drives have a unique unchanging serial number or not?

Please help me.

I think you need the DDK to get started...

How much pain can you take? Do you have 6 months to spend (waste) doing this and still not get it right?
If so, get the windows 2003 server DDK. Then buy Walter Oneys book, Programming the Microsoft Windows Driver Model.
Then post loads of qestions to the relevant Google forums.
BTW, what sort of wirless is it? GPRS, UMTS? or WLAN (802.11) ?

DVB-T and upload by AT sets?
I dont follow you.
What kind of hardware is it and whet kind of network driver do you want it to look like to the system?
