Hello Friends,
I am currently developing one application using VB.NET & Access + Oracle as a databases, and I want to install it on client machine. Since, we can not say for sure, whether .NET Framework is already installed on clients machine. I don't want my client to install it manually/separately, instead the framework (if required) should get installed automatically. I want to make setup of my application in such a way that it will determine immidiately that .NET Framework should be installed before proceding to its own installation. (and obviously it shoud install it... )
Can anyone please suggest me how i should go about it???
Thannks in advance....

I have a textbox and a date time picker.
the text box is used to display the value choosen from the date time picker.
When the focus is on the textbox, if the user click the ENTER key, I want that the date time picker open, and the focus is on it so the user, by using the ARROW keys, can choose a date.
I know how to test the key pressed by the user, this is my code:
Private Sub dtpprofdate_DropDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles dtpprofdate.DropDown
Me.dtpprofdate.DropDownAlign = LeftRightAlignment.Right
Me.dtpprofdate.Focus()
End Sub
Private Sub txtdateproforma_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtdateproforma.KeyPress
If KeyAscii(e) = 13 Then
dtpprofdate_DropDown(sender, e)
End If
End Sub
IF the key is an ENTER key (KeyAscii(e) function make the checking)the DropDown event of the date time picker is fired.
But the problem is that the date time picker is not opening??
Any help

Hi
Does anyone have a document or URL that describes how to make a trial version of .Net application?
Thanks

There's all sorts of different ways. The way I did it was to put a registration key in my config file. If it's not there, then the app is the demo version.

Hi, question is it possible to have a left mouseclick on any of those 2 menus instead of a right mouseclick. If so be kind enough to show me. Thank you

You mean right mouseclick instead of left... I have tried this many times, if u get it right, please contact me!

I don't think you can. It also goes against the consistant use of the mouse buttons and menus. See the Windows User Interface Guidelines on MSDN.
Selection is done with the left mouse button, Properties with the right. Why would you want to change this in a single app?

Hi , let me put u in context, i have this button that fire the contextMenu on which are 8 commands. When u say Selection is done with the left mouseclick button, then How come i have to use the rightclick button of the mouse to triger this button and then the Contextmenus can be operated trough the leftclick mousebutton, i do not understand what u mean by Properties are done with the right. Could u explain.

Can you be more specific? Including some well formatted code of what you are doing (e.g. the button's Click() event) will help us understand the problem much better.

The general use of the left mouse button is to Select items (single-click), like selecting a file in Explorer, and Execute, Open or Act On those items (double-click). The right mouse button is normally used to get to the Properties page or Context Menu of an item (single-click). The right mouse button doesn't have a standard use for double-click.
Why are you popping up a context menu using a button? This is normally done by right-clicking the object that you want the context menu to appear on. That's the meaning of "context". The menu is configured depending on object that is right-clicked on. The object supplies the context, or the list of things that can be done to that object.

AFAIK, it's not supported. VB6 doesn't have the ability to switch to the XP style controls.

It can be done but... there are some 'gotchas' of which you must be aware.
I did this for an old application I was updating in VB6. I had to back out the changes though since we were using some third-party controls which completely stuffed up when we used the manifest file method of providing XP styles. Pity, our code was ok - the third party controls limited our use of XP styles.
Anyway, have a look here[^]
or Google "VB6 manifest".
By the way, this isn't supported by Microsoft in VB6. It just happens to work.

You do not rename your EXE file but create a separate file named [yourEXEFileName].EXE.MANIFEST . This file must be placed into the same directory as your EXE file.
Are you trying to get the XP styles in the VB6 IDE? If so there is a special procedure to do this but it is not supported by Microsoft and I recommend against it.
Anonymous wrote: And how can i contact third party ?
What third party? I presume you'd find an email address and email them.
Anonymous wrote: Suppose I cannot with vb6, which version of vb that allow me to do this.
Have a more careful read of the original web article to which I pointed you. It can be done in VB6. I cannot do this for you or take you through the steps as I do not have the time to dedicate to this task.
If you have access to VB.NET then native XP styles are supported out of the box.

i'm doing a project for school and i need a web site that is standarized enough to be able to retrieve a stock quote for any given stock symbol and return those values to either a sql database or an xml file for import into a sql database. i'm sure there is a Google solution to this, but i won't know where to start with that.
thanks ahead of time,

"xml stock ticker vb" works, in fact the first match is a full solution. If you use it, obviously read the article and then rewrite the code, so that you understand what it does, and you've actually done your assignment.
