Of all the MS cl documentation I have read over the years,
SET /P has tons of info. Sort of an MS version of BASH if you ask me.

When I try and print a Web Page or e-mail I get the following error:-
Error: Interface not registered
URL: res: To print off a Web Page I have to copy into Wordpad or Word and print. Also many links on pages cause the browser to hang.
Need to stop the navigation and go into the URL field, move to the end and press return. i.e. all I get is the hour-glass when navigating to another site.
I did try and register the file; regsvr32 shdoclc.dll , but got the error:-
shdoclc.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
This file can not be registered.
This is a pain and I have run my anti-virus, Adware, Spy-Bot programs and I also have ZoneAlarm installed. But nothing seems to sort out this problem.
Any suggestions please!

It sounds like the shdoclc.dll file has been corrupted, or is the wrong version for your OS. Try running SFC (System File Checker) to test the file. If that doesn't work, check the version number of the file, then compare it to the correct version. You can find a listing of versions at TechNet[^] under the Troubleshooting and Support menu.

Hi,
I am encountering a strange issue in my Windows XP Workstation.
The audio driver or speaker does not play. When I goto to Device Manager, Uninstall and then click 'Scan for hardware Changes', it finds the Speaker and now it is able to play. (It gives two balloon tips after detection: Found 1 new hardware (RealTek Audio); Your hardware driver is installed and ready for use)
But when I reboot my system, the settings are lost and we need to go through the above settings again.
Parallely, I observed that USB also has an yellow exclamation mark. How to get the default Windows XP driver for this. Is it anyway related to the above issue or is an isolated one?
Any clues?

Try to check your right. Make sure that you are in the group that have an appropriate right to install device driver.

Ok, then try to look at this: Right click on my computer and choose Property then go to the Hardware tab and click on button Driver Signing and find that an option Warn is select and check your hardward driver whether it is sign with Microsoft for safety used.

If you want to set the default path to a different directory, you may do so by editing the registry.
Launch the Registry Editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Command Processor
In the right-pane, double-click Autorun and set the folder there, preceded by a CD\ (as you type in DOS).

I have a table, the fields are RANK_1,RANK_2 and POINTS.
the table looks like ,
Record1 -> [A+] [A+] [99.89]
Record2 -> [A+] [B+] [99.95]
Record3 -> [B+] [A+] [98.88]
Record4 -> [B+] [B+] [98.99]

----------------------
[A+] [B+]
----------------------
[A+] 99.99 99.95
[B+] 98.99 98.98
----------------------
I used the datatable to bind into datagrid(ASP.NET), but i am not able to find out the exact..

Hi, I have a problem with Guest account in my computer windows xp professional. I have log in Guest accout many time and have many document my document folder. I also change the desktop themes in order to match my style. But last night when I turn on my computer and log on as guest account, I found that my guest account is loading the new profile. All setting that I made to the desktop themes are lost and especially the document in my document folder are lost too.
Everything is really new, it seem like log on to guest account as the first time. I really don't understand with this problem. Can any one give me any idea or suggestion to find the previous setting and my documents? Because I lost many importance files which is really difficult for me to retype it again. And what is the problem that cause the guest account from load the existing profile to load the new profile?

Login as Administrator (or equivelant) and navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\guest\guest's documents"... are they there?
Also Guest by default does NOT save any settings set by the user.
When you change your profile and logoff, none of the changes are saved? There are no errors generated?
If the user is NOT a member of any local group, they are considered to be a Guest. Guest profiles are deleted at logoff.

Yes that right, after that i just found Microsoft document that guest profile are delete automatic by default when log off. If i found that document before, i won't save some necessary file in that profile. I have to re-create those document.
Finally thank you for your help and support.

Hi
Using VC++ I have to shell out (system) and do a wildcard copy. But the target has to be prefixed. I couldwrite a findfirst / findnext etc, but wanted to know if it could be done this way. At the cmd prompt, i want to copy for eg, all the *.ICO files in DirA to DirB, but, prefix them with '123'.
The command I use is :
system ( "copy c:\\DirA\\*.ico c:\\DirB\\123*.ico /Y" );
But the 123 portion overwrites the filename
icon1.ico becomes 123n1.ico
abc.ico becomes 123.ico
when I want
icon1.ico to be 123icon1.ico
abc.ico to be 123abc.ico
Any ideas?
Cheers
Angel

In my opinion, the structure of the command is replace the character of an old file name with the character the specify by the user. Try to check if you change it from override to concatenate the string. Good idea is building your own command.

Hi
I have to computers, both with two partition. The second partition is the same for the both. ( i mean the same folders). But if a change something on one of the computers (for exemple adding a file inone folder), then i have to do the same thing on the other computer. Can anyone tell me if there is a program that does automatically (that sees that there is another new file and copies it autimatically on my other comoputer).
Thank you!

I'm not clear whether a partition mount to a mapped drive or not. It it can than you should mount your partition to the mapped drive as the article that mount NTFS partition in windows xp.[^]

I think it is good of you want to backup from the first hard disk drive to the second hard disk drive. If you want to do that technique let check this description.[^]

Hello,
Does XCOPY supprot Unicode?
I mean:
cmd /u /c xcopy dir1 dir2 ^>File.txt
File.txt would be Unicode, but it is not.
Dir and Copy command prompt functions do support Unicode in this way, but it seems Xcopy does not.
How to use Xcopy to write to Unicode file?
Thank you.

I have a .NET component that uses the TransactionAttribute, with a value for the Isolation property of the attribute. I have only just learned that this property is not supported in COM+ 1.0, the target machine.
Is there any way I can get the component installed without making a last minute code change? regsvcs.exe doeasn't seem to be much help.

Hi
I want to hide an icon (of an other process) from the System tray. Is it possible?
|
|
|
|
|
No, it isn't.
Since you don't own the icon, you can't control it's being painted or not.

Ok, Thanks!
But what about for example sending some Window_Message to system tray to hide one of its icons, using SendMessage API?
