Hello,
(I am using Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2), When the user adds/deletes a row from a DataGridView, is it automatically added/delete from the corresponding DataTable?

Hi, I have a crystal report that i'm trying to connect to a Access database, which is password protected. Without the password everything works, but when the database is password protected i can't add the database to the report, The error is:
"Logon failed.
Source: Microsoft Jet Databse Engine.
Description:The application couldn't start. The Informationsdata for the group are missing or are exclusiv opened by an other user".
Does anyone knows what I'm doing wrong?

Have you looked at Spy++? It does what you want and more.
I don't know if there are any managed APIs to do what you want. You might have to P/Invoke WindowFromPoint[^] instead.

Hi there,
Is there anybody who know an easy why to display a string (2parts) in two different colors? It should look like one word, without any unnessacary space between.
Thanks for ideas!

Use MeasureString on the graphics object to find out where the first string ended, so you know where to draw the second one.

Hi everybuddy,
We are developing a project in which a set of various assemblies should be loaded into memory and run.
We have two strategies to do that:
1. Starting each assembly code in separate thread
2. Starting each assembly code in separate process
The problem is that I can't find a good reason for one of these ways, while my knowledge about important differences between 'Process' & 'Thread' is not complete.
In the topic I am looking to find these answers:
1. In the case of threads, can some error in code running in one thread cause problems for execution of other assembly codes in other threads, and even prevent them from running? if yes what type of errors may cause this situation?
2. what would happen if operating system, managed all applications in set of threads instead of set of processes?
Thank you so much for your note and any help

Basically, there exists a relation one-to-many between processes and threads. That is, a process can host one or more threads but the inverse is not true.
All the threads inside a process share the same memory space, while each different process has its own heap.
Threads are in general a lighter solution that processes when you need concurrency, but not isolation of the memory space.
As for your questions:
1: If one thread throws an unhandled exception your entire application should stop. In the case or processes, in one 'crashes' the others keep running. If you implement a good exception handling mechanism, using threads should not be a problem anyway.
2: Using threads inside an operating system means having all the system memory in common to all the application running inside the system. This means that every piece of code can read and write memory of other applications. In other words, applications would not be isolated, the failure on one program can lead, through memory violations, to the failure of the entire system. Also, there would be no way of preventing malicious code to write on memory areas owned by other threads.
Hope this was useful

Hi,
I am using property grid to allow user to set the property of the control
in a window form, but there are so many fields in the property grid
control, how can I save the all the settings of the property grid ?
Are there some serialization function for the property grid control ?
Thanks

You could use reflection to loop through every property on the control in question and persist the setting.
This could get pretty complex with collections etc EG the ListView controls column collection.
You may want to take a look at the article on this site entitled "Bending the .NET Property Grid To Your Will". This show you a way to limit the number of properties exposed in the property grid. This may be a more viable approach.

How do I, in ASP.Net pages, put the code on the same page, rather than in a .cs file?
|
|
|
|
|
Doing so throws away most of the benefits of asp.net, but just place the code in <% %> blocks.

Yeah, I am just using this to redirect.

Any of the functions that you would normally be put into the code behind can also be put into a section in the .aspx page. We do this for a launching page here at work and have it where we can just edit some of the arrays and data in that script section and put it out on the server and it does not need to be compiled.

I have been doin C# for quite some time. When i am doing some console apps for my course assignments i use
System.Console.Read();
as a replacement for the getch() that we used to do in C for making the cursor stop. so that the output window doesn close before i can see the output.
It works at times and at times it doesnt!
Please help me out folks cuz i have ended up using timers for a silly thing like that!!

Remember that console input is buffered, so if there are character in the buffer that were not yet consumed by your app, Console.Read will return immediately, returning the first character in the buffer. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to clear the buffer using managed code, fflush(stdin); works for C++.

Starting the project without Debug in VS2003 will prevent the console from closing until you press return.
Also, have you tried Console.ReadLine()? This will only return when the user hits Return.

We are searching for a .net component for image transitions. You could find many solutions/board entries for alpha blending, but we could not find any article/module which consist a easy way to handle different transitions like XShow40.oca.
Many thanks for your help!

Dear Christian, we want to make a slideshow with images. The user can use different transition modes (blocks, stripes, fade, ...) The activXControl XShow40 from www.Softuarium.com offers 100 different transitions. We try to develop different transitions with matrixe operations in C#, but we have performance problems with large images. Please let me know if you can help us.

Hi again - I'm sure I can help you. In the first instance, matrix operations are pretty limited, although they can do some things very efficiently. I'd have to say that working smoothly on large images would be a challenge, I'd assume that you would create a control for this, so that you only draw the parts of the image that are changing, not creating a bunch of bitmaps for each step of the animation. If you did that, and used direct pixel access, as per my articles, then you should be able to do any transition you wanted, in my opinion.
