The code you download should include a project file. If it doesn't, ask the author.

Sorry but I've downloaded several of the available source codes and I can't get any of them to work. I'm getting all kind of errors. I'm just not doing something right. All the programs are webforms if that helps. Also, I'm not getting the common localhost error. I don't think I've gotten that far yet.

Ah - in that case, you need to set up IIS to run a virtual folder in your apps root directory.
Or you may have installed IIS after VS, or for some other reason your ASP.NET ISAPI filter may not be registered. Try running aspnet_regiis in your .NET install folder.

I hate to be the guy how seems to know absolutely nothing but I'm still having problems. I believe my IIS is running fine. I am able to create my own webforms and fun them. I just don't know how to get other peoples code to work. I downloaded the code from this site to my desktop, I extracted all the files, now what? Everything I tried hasn't worked.
Thanks for all the help.

I guess the obvious thing would be to create a new form in your project which works, then copy the code from the form in the project you're having trouble running.
I have to admit, if I've ever downloaded a web article, I've probably copied the code right into the project I want to use it in.

I have writen an app that uses DirectX for 3D graphics. It runs fine on my system but the 3 people i have given the program to, to run have all had errors like this:
process id=0x1c8(456), thread id=0x774(1908)
I have made sure they have the latest .NET framework and DirectX.
But as far as i can understand it only work on my system.

The most likely source is different graphics cards, I would have thought.

Is managed DirectX installed on all other machines?

|
Is there a difference between the "End User" versions of managed DirectX9 and DirectX9?
I tought DX9 covered it all?
|
|
|
|
|
If you install Dx9, managed Dx is only installed if the .NET Framework 1.1 is already installed on your machine.
Take a look at the Microsoft.NET-folder in C:\Windows. Is there a folder called "DirectX for Managed Code" with some dlls? If yes, managed DX is installed.

Hi,
I have this string, ",(None Active),1.0.0,1074005504,AL2000000,1_271005132951,ALLTEL,ripItem_271005132951,BREW Application,Operater Managed Item,27-OCT-2005 13:30:00;"
and I run this regex against it, "([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,1\.0\.0,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*,([\w\s]+)*"
When ever I run my code, or run the expression in Expresso, the regex engine freezes up or something and doesn't stop searching. Is there something wrong with my regex? Is there a way to modify it to make it more efficient?
What it basically needs to do is ignore anything that's in between a comma (,) as you can see by the example, it ignores every value in the string excepts for the "1.0.0"

Hi,
this regex should do the match:
([^,]*,){2}1\.0\.0,([^,]*,){7}
/cadi
24 hours is not enough

I found out what the problem was... I was using grouping (...) unecessarly. When you use grouping the regex engine creates a sort of variable (slowing things down), when I wasn't even using the grouping.. I just copied it from some example I saw.
My whole regex opperstion only takes 9 seconds now, compared to never ending.

I forgot to mention that I also need help on how to open a mysql database in C#. Any source code would be greatly appreciated.

The tutorial you google will include that as well.

This article[^] describes how to use the System.Data.Odbc classes to connect to and manipulate a MySql database. A searche for MySql in the search window at the to will reveal many others that might be useful.

How do I upgrade a mysql database that is tied to visual c#? How do I make a loading page using visual c#? How do I take the value in the database and utilize it in visual c#.

use the dataAdapter class and the setup wizards provided in visual studio. If you are not familiar with ADO.NET, I suggest you google mysql and C# and look for some tutorials.

Hi,
I have this product which is speech related one, i have to redistribute bunch of .MSM files , and one .exe ( all the dll's i merged using ILMerge into an .EXE), All this i can using visual studio setup wizard which generates a final .MSI file which works great, however what should i do to generate .EXE as my final result instead of .MSI
thanks in advance

You want your installer to not be a .msi ? why ?

one reason is i am too lazy to write a code protection (trial version) i have tried lot of way's like XML digital signatures , but still it can be broken, so i have finally decided to make 2 version's trial(with limited features) and full .
there are many softwares i can buy who does this kind of licensing and versioning, but all of them require .EXE file to wrap their code around i guess. that is the reason i was asking.

I don't get it. Surely the exe that these products want to use is the actual program, not the installer ?

Not to mention that most exe protectors don't work on .NET apps.

Hello everyone. It's me again, and on my project teh user is suppose to press a button, and then when the post back occurs I check what the user entered in in the dynamic text box, and if it is less than a certain number it should put a different number that is valid in. Let's say the user enters in 10, but the minimum number to enter in is 15, it should put that number in the text box. I tried Request.Form.Set() but that is apparently read-only so that did not work. Thanks.
Sincerely,
The Major Rager
