If you're thinking about IPC mechanisms that have names (eg shared memory) then all TS sessions can see the named objects if the name has the Global\ prefix.

Is there a way I can achieve this ?
I need to package the hotfix.exe in an installshield msi and run it in the background without any graphic .
Engineering is the effort !

If you already have an msi file i think it is easier for you. Try to use windows group policies to install those fix or application during the computer is start up.

I don't think you can do the case thing in C, or any C type language.

Hi everyone,
I'm a system technician at a few primary schools in Australia. We run an SOE using Server 2003 and XP workstations. I have this small thing thats been bugging me, and i was hoping someone here could come up with a solution. Every student has an individual logon, but the start menus are year based and redirected from the server. Applications are installed in certain locations (not all are site licences) but the shortcut for that application is in every start menu... so when a student logs onto a computer that doesn't have a certain application, there is a dead link in the start menu. is it possible to have dead links 'greyed out' and unnacessable??
Cheers
Dave

Does the computer of student from year one to year two are in a seperate room? If so, i think you should manage on the shortcut of each students from the server. You have to know about the software that the school need the student to study and enable only the shortcut to the student based on the subject that they are study. It's need to be flexible.

I'm using IE (version 6.0.2800.1106 Cipher Strength: 128 bit Update versions: SP1, Q867801, Q833989, Q903235;). My IE somtimes closes automatically. I think that this error is caused by this page runs many Javascripts or this page cannot complete to load all the picture...
Please help me solve my problem. Thank you

Try to update your anti-virus and windows update. I don't think an IE close because of the scripting error.

But in windows xp pro. i want the admin of local machine to delegate control to the sepcific user of local machine but this feature is not available. So if I want to delegate some task to the user, how could I do that in the windows xp pro?

Hi I have a problem when I try to play an AVI file in my computer. I try to use windows media play, winnam, iTune, PowerVCD and many other media application play an AVI file but it display an error message to say that "Could not download code" or "Codec Error" and there is no picture display but just hear the sound of the story. But when i try to play DAT, MPEG, MPG, WMV file is fine and the picture display normally. Does anyone know why I could not play an AVI file in my computer? and how to solve the problem?

The problem is taht the avi file you're getting the error on uses a codec (encoding mechanism) not on your machine, and that MSes codec DB doesn't contain. To fix this google for the GSpot codec identification tool run it to find out what video codec was used to encode the file. Then google the codec name for a download site. Follow the install instructions.

Hi !
Can anybody give me an advice: can I use in the cluster 2000/2003 the cluster-unaware service, what are the restrictions of this usage, and how to do it?
Do I need to customize the service in any way, or it may be used as is ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gennady

Actually, I've found answers on my questions - I can use Generic Service resource type and there is no need to use Cluster APIs in my case.
But because I'm absolutely newbie in this area, anyway I'll be very thankful for your comments.

Gennady

I have been using the parallel port to switch a few relays. I use PortTalk to acces the parallel under Windows 2000 (and XP later - still TBD).
However during WIndows 2000 startup the lines chatter, i.e. some sort of self test (or access) taking place?
Once the PC is up and running they are no problems using the parallel port.
My question is are they any way to stop the lines of the parallel port being accessed during startup?
Many thanks,

No, there isn't. You're seeing the ports being reset to known states/values when the system starts. There's nothing you can do to prevent this on the PC side.

What about Serial ports, do they chatter during start-up.
Also is USB an option?
